24th December 2014 - Christmas Eve!

I had a RUBBISH sleep. Not good at all. I feel really poorly today. Not a very merry Christmas for me so far.

I headed to work ready for a full day of craziness, just like every other one so far this week. It wasn't quite so bad, but at the same time, some really urgent things came through very last minute. Grr.

We were then told by BigBoss T that we could leave whenever we wanted! GET IN! Except we had lots of urgent work to do. Booo.

We managed to get it done and were able to leave at around 1pm! That's good, right?!

I headed home but was not allowed into the bedroom as Paul was wrapping my Christmas presents. So I chilled downstairs and had some cereal until he was done.

We then packed up and headed over to Manchester to spend Christmas Eve with Paul's parents.

Maia wasn't best pleased with this deal!

She wasn't as bad as she can be in the car. Not as much singing as usual. Barney was quiet. Which is also good!

We got to Manchester at a decent hour and we did some sorting out of stuff. Paul got straight on with dinner while I sat in his bedroom remembering how loud his parents' house is. They like loud volume!

Paul made herby chicken with lemon risotto as a starter, which was delicious!

We had it last year too, if memory serves and it was just as yummy!

For main we had roast lamb which was also yummy. I didn't take a picture of that. I ate it too quickly!

We did the washing up and watched a little tv. It was soon time for bed as I was pretty exhausted. We have an early start tomorrow!

23rd December 2014 - Testing!

I feel like RUBBISH today. Not that this makes a damn bit of difference as I still have to go into work and do a full day. I don't like it but I'm going to man up and get on with it. My way of getting through it is to pretend I'm fine! Should work!

Before going to work I decided to try out one of the new cat foods I received yesterday.

The food seemed to be fairly good, with not so much of the nasty stuff in it, so in theory, the kittens should like it!

I didn't realise it was going to be a pate, but that's ok. Doesn't mean they won't enjoy it.

We only gave them half the pot and it went a long way. I was quite surprised! Ok, so let's see how they like it!

Maia gave it a tentative sniff before digging in.

Barney, the messy eater, dove straight in! No fuss!

Two empty bowls in record time! It was definitely a hit!

I went to work and had a busy day. I had T doing lots of important things and I helped where I could but once again, it was easier to let her get on with it!

I was feeling very sorry for myself when I went home. I lay down on the bed for 5 minutes, which ended up being more like half an hour. Still feeling gloomy, I decided I needed to get on with the ironing as I might not get another chance to do it.

It didn't take long, which is good.

Paul then came in, a little merry from his work Christmas lunch. I was grumpy. This wasn't going to work well.

I started packing for our Christmas adventures and left Paul watching tv downstairs. I then went to bed as I needed more sleep. Need to get my strength together for Christmas!

22nd December 2014 - Purrfect Presents!

Monday Monday. Yeah.

This week is going to be a weird week. One of those where you have no idea what day of the week it is!

Today wasn't an exception to this as it was our first day without A in the office.

It was a mental day. Lots of really important and difficult things that we have to deal with and have no idea how to do it! Most of it fell to T as she has far more experience of these things than me, which made her very stressed and grumpy. Can't blame her.

I helped where I could and stayed quiet the rest of the time. It didn't help that I was starting to feel a little under the weather. There has been a cold plaguing pretty much everyone recently and I think I am finally succumbing. Not impressed. Never mind!

I got a special delivery today! It was lost in the post (due to errors on my part and failure to return on the delivery company's part) but it arrived, finally, even though it was slightly battered. I don't mind as I am quite excited about it!

My first Cat Hampurr!

I have subscribed to get them bi-monthly, so have been eagerly awaiting this one! Shame it has been delayed but worth the wait!

I was looking forward to getting it home for the cats to see!

The cats were very excited to see the contents!

Here we are! Lots of yummy deliciousness for them to try, plus a squeeking toy and some catnip bubbles! This could be good!

They were definitely eager to explore!

The bubbles didn't want to bubble but we got there in the end. Maia is a little scared of them but Barney LOVES bubbles! The toy has also got their interest! We'll see what they make of the food very soon. It looks like the kind of food we are into now, rather than the crap they used to eat, so fingers crossed we have a few more options to explore if they like them!

After play time, I sat and vegetated on the sofa, feeling rather sorry for myself! Paul came home with some medicine for me to try to make me feel better, then we watched some tv for a while.

I then went to bed very early. Laying down (at a bit of an angle) felt much better. I needed lots of sleep and hopefully the medicine will help.

21st December 2014 - Yum!

I woke up at around 2:30am. Idiot.. I took myself off to bed for the duration of the night.

Paul woke up early but I dozed on for as long as I could.

We didn't have anything to do today, which is really nice. So in our own time we got up and did our chores. I sorted washing and Paul went shopping.

On his travels, he picked up the last bottle of prosecco in Aldi - Old Swan!

Who'd have thought South Liverpool would be so keen on Prosecco?! It can't just be me drinking it after all!

When Paul got back we watched some tv and movies and generally vegetated. Paul also started making our dinner!

Roast ginger-glazed ham with macaroni cheese. This is it nearly ready.

This was my plateful. It was AH-MAY-ZING!

Polished off. Yum.

We watched Love Actually (yes, I'm a sap and made Paul be a sap by watching it with me) but then went to bed. It's going to be a mental week!

20th December 2014 - Seriously...AGAIN?!

I woke up at about 5am with a hideous migraine.

I look lots of meds and lay down for a little longer. Paul got up and went to the cheese shop and chose some cheese for Christmas.

By the time he got back, I was feeling better so I got up too. I had remembered that I was crap and had forgotten to write & send pretty much any Christmas cards. Bad Caroline.

So I had to get them written and head out AGAIN. Into town. Yep - putting myself through the high street on the last Saturday before Christmas. Just after a migraine.

So I wrote the cards and noticed something wasn't quite right with one of them.

Someone needs to get fired for that. Do they not proof read?! Says someone who doesn't proof read...meh! I don't get paid to write this. I paid good money for that card!

So, Carlton Cards. I've even given you the bar code for the card to see if that helps you name and shame who made that mistake!

I got stuff done. Paul got stuff done. We were done!

We had a cheeky drink before heading to the car.

Doesn't look a lot but that's all done!

We got home and relaxed for a little while. It was very important to be lazy. I needed it!

We sat on the sofa and settled in for the Strictly final. Barney wasn't impressed by the lack of attention on him.

He took his star wand for a walk and dropped it by the front door! It's a subtle hint!

Paul made dinner while I was entertained by the dancing.

This is one of my favourite meals in the world and it was DE-LISH-US.

The dancing finished and the person I wanted to win won, so there was much to be happy about! Paul went to bed and I watched some random crap on tv for a little while. I then intended to head to bed...but fell asleep instead.

Friday, 26 December 2014

19th December 2014 - Fizz Free Friday!

We had another day of rubbish internet at work. Seriously, dial up was more reliable than our broadband.

It was a long day. Really struggled to get anything done. Not good. Stupid computer.

The only redeeming factor of it was that because it was A's last day before Christmas, he brought wine!

We don't have wine glasses at the office so we had to put it in the champagne flutes!

It was nice wine! It went down a treat after the rubbish day we've had!

After work, Paul came to pick me up as we had a few jobs to do. We went via the supermarket and when we got home, it was time for some serious relaxation. I was Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two with a glass of mulled wine!

It's the end of the show tomorrow! Waaaa! No more Saturday night reality TV! What will we do on a weekend now? We already don't do anything in the week!

Maia also came for a cuddle. Which lead her to falling down the gap between my leg and the arm of the sofa!

She was very purry so clearly that's a good place to be!

We didn't stay up too late. Nice relaxing evening!

Thursday, 25 December 2014

18th December 2014 - Can't quite put my paw on what's wrong...

It's Thursday. Already!

Send some purrs to my bro who had tests done on his kidneys today and has to stay in hospital overnight. Not good. Hope the tests come back with good news.

Not much happened today except we all got really annoyed at our IT system as it kept crashing. Seriously, it was worse than yesterday. We couldn't get everything done that we wanted to and our productivity was really low. Not good when there are urgent things to do before Christmas.

After work I decided to head to the shops to have a look around and buy a last minute Christmas present for A as we didn't think until today to think of anything for him. We're bad staff!

I found a little something and T will get something else, so it's not too bad.

When I came home I decided that Barney needed to have some play time. He wasn't really sure what the game was...

Beep, you're supposed to chase it, not wear it. Although if he's starting a new kitty fashion craze, he is WORKING that boa!

Same old usual evening. Won't type it again.

Wednesday, 24 December 2014

17th December 2014 - Shiny!

Back to work today and it was another busy one.

One of our flexi-time team of troops came in to do some file work for us which means we have more time to get other things done. It's great and we really appreciate it...except that the computer kept crashing, which hinders us somewhat.

Seriously, we lost our connection well over 20 times today. Productivity was awful. We were all cranky.

Couldn't stay too cranky for too long, though, as I had to head home sharpish to prepare for the last #Whedonsday of the year. The mid-season finale, if you like!

It was a good evening! We had fun, beer, laughs and Chris got the rest of his birthday present!

It's only a Serenity key chain! Isn't it lush?! I think Chris liked it, so SCORE!

We ate chilli and watched some very miserable episodes of Buffy and Angel. Way to peak before Christmas! Ah well!

Chris then left and we cleared up before heading to bed. I was sleeeeepy again! I don't think I'm getting enough sleep.

Tuesday, 23 December 2014

16th December 2014 - Town. Again.

We had a fairly good sleep, which is good. Not too much Barney being a naughty sausage, just some. He likes to find the loudest thing he can to stomp on while we're sleeping and wake us up and then be all "who, me? Well now you're awake, you can give me attention, yeah?"

I had a half day morning in the office and got quite a lot done in a short space of time.

This is my last time off for the year except the holidays everyone gets. I'm a bit sad about that.

I came in and did the ironing, as I always do on my time off. There wasn't much so it didn't take me long. I was blessed with a visit from Paul while I was doing it so had some company for a little while! It was good!

When I finished the ironing, I headed into town to get the last of my Christmas shopping done. It wasn't as busy as it had been on Sunday so I was able to navigate a lot better and find what I needed!

I am officially done Christmas shopping with a week to go! This NEVER HAPPENS!

The only bad thing to happen was that I thought I'd lost my phone or it had been stolen at one point. It was hidden under one of Paul's presents but there were 15 minutes when I felt sick. It's a horrible feeling!

After I was done shopping, I met Paul and we had a quick drink before heading home to have some dinner and relax a little.

Barney was doing some relaxing. It's hard being a Barney and having enough energy to keep Mummy awake from the early hours!

Kisses for Mama!

If I scratch the back of his head, he always likes to sniff my fingers afterwards. Strange boy. I guess as that's the only bit of him he can't clean, he needs to see how stinky he is!

We didn't hang around. After dinner we watched tv for a tiny time then headed to sleepyland.

Monday, 22 December 2014

15th December 2014 - He is Batman.

Back down to earth once more with yet another bump. Sucky suckfest. Back to work it is!

It was a long day in the office and very busy. It's the last week all of us are in before the new year so got to get as much done as we can.

This wasn't helped by having some technical problems. Oh well.

After work I headed home for a nice long relaxing evening.

Paul was late getting in, which isn't good. I amused myself by lighting all the candles and watching crap on tv!

Pretty much at the bottom of these candles now. Two of them have leaked so much that they are nearly one!

Paul came in and opened his deliveries that arrived at my office while we were off last week. He forgot that the default address is my work. Oh well.

One of them was actually for his Christmas party last Friday but obviously he wasn't able to collect it in time.

Paul is Batman, everyone! Tell your friends you now know who it is!

We had a light dinner of omelette and watched Hawaii Five-0. I then did a few chores before heading to bed because we were both shattered.

Maia helped.

Yeah - real helpful kitten

She's just to darn cute to get chores done! I just want to snuffle that gorgeous ginger belly!

14th December 2014 - Christmas Wrapping!

I went to bed at around 11:30pm. As I was going to sleep, Paul woke up dehydrated. So he got up and I nodded off!

We woke up at a normal time and felt ok, which made a nice change! Paul had to head off to Manchester to go to the football so I decided to go into town and get the rest of my Christmas shopping done!

Town was busy. I hated it. So it was my intention to get it all done ASAP.

I managed to get pretty much everything except for a few things that were in shops where the queue was out the door. I'll have to come back again later in the week.

When I got home I started wrapping what I had bought. Which is a bit of a pain in the backside when you have cats. Still, I don't think I did a bad job!

I hope people like their gifts!

The cats were being a total pain but I had thought ahead and bought them some catnip goodies to distract them from me and the wrapping paper!

This is Ratty. They both love Ratty!

Paul got back after I finished wrapping and we had a quick dinner and relax for the rest of the evening.

Really don't want to go back to work tomorrow. Booo. I could happily be a lady of leisure!

13th December 2014 - One Last Time

4:10am Paul came home. Yeah. Guess how impressed I was at that.

I pretended to be asleep as I knew that the alarm was set to go off at 7:30am and so wanted to get at least a few hours sleep.

I managed it and woke up with the alarm. Paul wasn't impressed at the alarm going off. Neither was he best pleased that he had to get up. Get up we did, though, as we had to get Barney to fat club for his last weigh in of the year!

We were bang on time, rather than early like we normally are, as we had to defrost the car as there were lovely patterns on the window. Probably should have taken pictures of that. Oh well!

When we got home, we headed to bed for a couple more hours' sleep. I was really grumpy so it was probably for the best to get me unconscious!

The time came for us to get up and go out again. We had a prior engagement that I wasn't going to cancel for ANYTHING!

We went to the local burrito place for a hangover-curing burrito for Paul, then headed from there into town. We had some time to kill before our important appointment so had a quick drink in a local mead establishment.

Whilst enjoying a cold foamy beer, I perused the extensive cocktail menu. I noticed something curious...

The Egg Nog contains 'some stuff'. What the heck is that?! Cat food? Steak? Ribena? WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?!

I don't really know what Egg Nog is. I can't say I've ever had if people can tell me what the 'stuff' might be, I'd appreciate it!

We hurried out of the bar and over to our meeting.

One Last Time.

I loved it. I may or may not have had a little tear or two. I am going to have to see it again. Soon.

From there, we contemplated getting a little snack, but I started feeling a little poorly (I hit my head yesterday and the bump was a bit painful) so we went home. Paul went to bed as he was 'tired'. I watched Strictly and then X Factor. It was the final and seemed very...stretched. Got a bit bored so started watching comedy instead.

I then started nodding off so sent myself to bed. I'm so sensible.

Friday, 19 December 2014

12th December 2014 - Furry Friday!

Another morning with no lie in because Paul has to work. Boo.

My idea was to stay in bed for a little while, which was facilitated by Maia, cuddling me and the electric throw...

But there are chores to be done and do I got them done! Meaning the ironing.

It took longer than I anticipated to get it all done, but it did get done! I then got to chill for a tiny bit longer before I headed out to meet T from work as it was time for our annual Christmas drinkypoos!

We headed to the pub at the station by her house and had a few drinks. Her husband joined us for a cola and we chatted to some of the locals for a while.

One of the locals wasn't quite like the others

This is Ollie. He's quite old and very adorable. He enjoyed playing fetch with me and his Santa toy (which wasn't new and still had it's squeak!) and the usual tug of war games you play with dogs!

After a few drinks, we headed back to T's house for a bit of food and some fizz! I also got to catch up with mini-me, who is another year older and about 5 feet taller! She won't be mini me much longer!

I seemed to be there for not very long at all but the train I was going to catch came and went, so I decided to wait for the next one which came and went. I HAD to go for the last train so headed to the station with about 5 minutes to spare.

It didn't turn up. It was 35 minutes late. T's husband stayed with me, which was very kind of him but it was getting to the stage that I was going to be staying at their house. Thankfully I didn't need to and headed on the drunkards train home. I was tipsy but was positively sober compared to the others on the train!

I got home at about half 12 and Paul wasn't back from his Christmas party I text him, but got no went to sleep.

I woke up about 1.15 and he still wasn't in, so text him. Nothing.

I then fell asleep for a little while and woke to a missed call at 02:02am. Called Paul back. Nothing.

I was awake then.

Texts for a very long time. Finally got hold of him at 3:40am. He said he'd come home...

11th December 2014 - Craftin' and Relaxin'

Paul got up at normal o'clock to go to work. Boo. I didn't get up. I stayed in bed and did my best to go back to sleep.

When I failed I realised that I should probably crack on with what I intended to do with my day. Which mostly meant making some more Christmas cards!

My little craftin' station on the bed! I got about 12 made when my back decided it didn't want me to make any more. So I lay down under the heated throw...and was promptly joined!

Both kittens were very happy to have me join them for a nap! Well! I'm on holiday! It would be rude not to!

Barney airing the bellydots never gets old!

Paul came home and felt sorry for me in all my back ache. He had had a difficult day in work, which is a shame. So we spent the rest of the evening on the sofa watching tv. Like we do!
