11th February 2014 - Oh the weather outside is frightful...

"Conversation about the weather is the last refuge of the unimaginative." - Oscar Wilde

Sadly I must be incredibly unimaginative as today is mostly about the weather!

Another morning where we didn't go to the gym. We're so naughty. Paul is injured...that's the excuse! :)

Then it was work time which was also incredibly dull. As ever. It looked as though it was a nice day...for most of the day. I did notice this little chap on the weather forecast...

That's a symbol for light snow. It's not welcome here.

But that's what we got!

Giant hailstones turned into snowfall for about half an hour. Luckily then it stopped. I am not a fan of snow, as I have mentioned once or twice over the years, so at least this is all we have had so far. I really feel for those of you who have had rather a lot more than this. Not. Nice.

Thankfully it stopped just before we were about to leave to go home at the end of the day. It was moving in a line across the sky and across the country. I managed to snap a picture of the cloud that carried it.

It was far more pink in real life.

Paul was working in Manchester today, and it wasn't snowing there. Just on the motorway.

We had dinner and watched more The Good Wife. Then an early night. Dullsville of a day. Sorry.

27/03/2013 - Seriously...more snow?!

It's nearly the end of March. So why in the name of Maia is it snowing again?

Before the shoddy attempts at snow falling pics, this is the lovely sight that sent me to work:

My handsome boys!

I'm still in a lot of pain with the whole stupid rib polava, so I got another ride to work while the snow was still lightly falling.

Another mental day, but watching the snow fall was oddly calming...

Those white dots on the ground? Snow. You can't really see it falling, but it is. It didn't get much worse than this, thank goodness, even though it was snowing lightly most of the day.

Managed to make it through the day, which was good as it was time for a much needed #Whedonsday! Spag Bol, garlic bread and Angel on the tellybox? Lovely evening!

I lit some candles. Because...well...it's free light. And stuff that's free? We likes it!

11/03/2013 - Insert Monday blog title here

I need to come up with some titles. It's not even mid-March and I'm failing you guys already!

I woke up just before 3am to the sound of Barney being sick. Delightful. Aren't you guys glad I didn't take pictures of that?! Didn't really get back to sleep afterwards. That's not good.

We were going to go to the gym this morning, but my grand total of 3 hours sleep really put me off!

Work was busy. As ever. Generally a standard thing at work right now. If I don't mention it, assume it was busy!

It got to about 4.30pm and I was squinting. That sunlight I told you about last week came back to get me!

See! We do get sunshine in the UK! It's not just rain!

You see the white effect on the grass? That's snow. It snowed today. It was not good. Luckily it didn't stick as I don't like snow. I think you knew that already.

I needed to catch up on work so I stayed in the office for a few extra hours to sort out some filing etc.

This is Andy's post pile. It's all nicely organised for him. But there is a lot. We're behind. I don't like it.

This is my 'inbox'. The top tray is the YOU MUST DO ME NOW' pile. The next is the 'to do' pile, which is less urgent. The one under that is filing, and the bottom is misc. That's a lot of work. WAAAAAA.

I got home at 8pm and Paul and I were very naughty and had a pizza for dinner. It's cheap, so that's ok, just REALLY unhealthy. We got free peppers on it though, which was nice! I really enjoyed it...until about 30 minutes later when we both felt slightly sick from eating so much!

To bed we went to read and chill after not having a lot of sleep. Then this happened.

Some of you may shrug and say, so. Let me explain. THIS NEVER HAPPENS! This may well be the closest I have ever seen Maia and Barney sit willingly next to each other! They stayed there for a while as well! No growling! No hissing! No paw o'doom! It was lovely! I went to sleep one happy Cagga!

Oh, and for the record, Barney is fine. No more sick. I think he gorged himself on biscuits. Silly boy.

25/01/2013 - MORE NEWS!

Paul always has an early start on a Friday morning to go network, mingle and eat breakfast. I sometimes go to the gym. This morning I decided not to, after the stresses of the last couple of days.

I put on the radio to try to wake myself up...and this is the first song I heard play:

Thanks again, YouTube!

BUSTIN' MAKES ME FEEL GOOD! :)

How can it be a bad day when the first song you hear is this one?! I posted on twitter at 06:48am that this was the first song I heard, and does that mean it's going to be a good day. Yes, is the answer. Yes it is.

I GOT MY PAY RISE! :D :D :D

Not a lot by any means. But still, I am not going to say no! It means that as the bills increase this year, I might be able to keep up with them a little better than not having a rise, like the last few years!

That was the first bit of awesomeness and put me in a good mood for the rest of the day.

Then I came home to this:

An invitation to my old Uni housemate's wedding!  Ain't it purrrrty?! They made it themselves as well!! I've told her she can make ours too if she likes! :)

It's the weekend of my 30th birthday, so it means I don't have to arrange anything as well! SCORE!

Paul made a fleeting visit home before going out to a proper posh function in town. So naturally, he had to James Bond it up!

Very dashing, no?

He left me in by myself, so what else could I do but celebrate my victory over the man (and the AssHat) with a little toast?!

My brother and sister-in-law gave me this bottle for Christmas in a posh hamper, and it went down a treat!

Paul, however, had to make it home in this:

After the snow clearing, it decided it wanted to go out with a flourish. Fantastic. Did I mention I hate the snow?

18/01/2013 - Brrr

It didn't snow much more over night. Phew. When Paul left the house at 6.15am he was able to drive away no problem.

However, as I was preparing to leave for work, I looked out of the front door and saw snow falling from the sky. Big ol' flakes of snow. Fan-flippin-tastic.

Time for a change of footwear. I'm not risking my pretty new boots in that snow. Nope - time for the big boys to come out to play!

Snow boots of champions
Another example of boots that Paul has bought me! In fact, I think most of the boots I own were purchased by Paul! :)

These were a Christmas present a few years ago but thankfully I haven't had to wear them before as the weather hasn't been that bad! Yeah. I wasn't going to take that risk today! Thank you, Aldo, for making these boots!

This is the view from my office window at about 11am. That's about 2 inches of snow.

As I have mentioned in an earlier post, England comes to a standstill when snow falls down. We haven't had it that bad in Liverpool but schools were closing etc. Which meant that our two colleagues with children had to leave early to go and collect them.

I might adopt some kids to get out of work early. Us childless folk never get to take snow days! I don't think I can use the cats as an excuse. Maybe in the summer...on the hottest day of the year... "Soz, can't come in today, Maia and Barney need me to put sunscreen on their belly dots..."

Reckon it will work?

17/01/2013 - Typical Thursday

 Our office internet SUCKS.

Due to this, yet again, I had to stay late at work to get everything. No-one else seems to give a damn about doing this but I can't leave things unfinished for the next day. I just can't do it!

Yes, yes I think I will log out! Thanks for reminding me!
My darling fiance offered to come and pick me up, which was very much appreciated. Especially as when I locked the office, this is what I came outside to:

Snow. Urgh.

SNOW ON ME. Tiny iccle snowflake!

Not that bad, right? PHEW!

Hmmm.

In the minute I was stood outside waiting for Paul, it snowed harder. One was not amused.

Still, when I got home I had a lovely mug of honey and lemon to wash down the leftover spanish chicken bake from Tuesday night. SCORE!
