12th October 2014 - Eugggghhhh.

Paul was up early as he had to do a run this morning over the water. I was going to be lazy and stay in bed but I felt bad about doing that so I got up and went to do some cleaning in the kitchen.

We had some dishes soaking and when I came to clean one, I found I wasn't alone...

ICK.

That's a big spider. I don't know if I drowned it when putting it in the sink or if it was already dead but I wasn't overly happy about finding it there to be quite honest.

I got the dishes done and cleaned the floors downstairs. I think that's some good work for a Sunday morning!

Instead of helping, Barney did a good impression of me and what I'm usually like on a Sunday morning!

Check out the blinding white belly dot that just doesn't want to be hidden by his fur!

After a few tickles, kisses and cuddles, I noticed he had been fighting with Maia a little bit. Barney has a boo boo.

He's had a couple of these recently, always around his ears. He instigates the fighting with her. She ends it and he ends off worse. Silly boy.

Paul came home and had more revision to do, so I helped him a little where I could but ultimately I couldn't really do much. I read him some of the revision while he was doing other things but that's about the limit of my assistance!

Paul kept on with the revision while I watched more tv but it wasn't the most exciting of days, I'm afraid.

After Strictly came X Factor, then Downton, then bed. Yawn!

31st May 2014 - Getting our glad rags ready!

We were both awake quite early this morning, which isn't a bad thing! We listened to some tunes, drank tea and generally chilled out!

We had decided to head to town quite early this morning as we had to both get outfits for Chris & Ceri's wedding in a few weeks time. 3 weeks today, to be precise! EEKS! However, after looking at the weather for the day, it was going to be a lovely afternoon, so we decided to go in the afternoon instead! YAY! More lazing around time!

Barney also made himself at home under my knees under the duvet as well. This is not like him. He does not do this!

I was catching up on a few blog posts when everything stopped loaded. Huh. Our wifi had gone off. We switched it off and on again a couple of times which usually fixes that sort of thing and nothing. I searched through our internet provider (Virgin Media - yep, I'll name and shame!)'s website for help. CRAP WEBSITE.

Eventually I was able to find a page which said that there was a fault in our area and it was acknowledged and would be fixed by 1835 hours. That's a long time away! Not impressed by that.

Anyway, it didn't matter too much as we were heading into town so we got ready and off we went!

We both went off on our own for a while to see what was out there. I wasn't overly impressed with what I saw. Everything is so bright! I will wear bright colours occasionally  but I feel the need to have a bit of colour to me first! I need some semblance of a tan otherwise I just look REALLY pale!

We met up again after an hour, had a quick drink then both went to look at what each of us had found. Paul hadn't really been successful, sadly. The one thing he did like was ridiculously small sized. So even their larger sizes would have been too small. Stupid high street shops. He has options to ponder which is good.

We then went to look at a couple of dresses I had seen and Paul decided he liked one I wasn't too sure about. I tried it on and other than it being too big (YES!!!!!!!) it looked nice! So as there was a 20% sale on, I went for it. Can't be bothered faffing around shopping any more!

We looked at some other stuff in shops but my ankle was starting to hurt, so we went to get a snack. Note that I said snack.

We got to Hopskotch, where I met Koran the other week, sat down and ordered some food and a beer. I was tempted by a cocktail but decided not to. I'd be very giddy before you know it.

We got some picky food off the 'tapas' style menu and chatted about holiday etc. All good. Then the food came!

Chilli beef nachos
Vegetable fritata and chips
Cola ribs
Yep. Snack. Sadly the chilli on the nachos was cold and so we sent it back. We ate the rest of the food and they came out with more nachos. We could have done without them but ate them anyway! Means we don't need to find anything for dinner later on!

After enjoying our drink, we headed back to the car with me limping a little. Once home, Paul popped to the shops to get some snacky bits in case we get peckish later.

I made a new friend.

Handsome, isn't he? EEEEEEAAAAAAUUUUUUGGHHH. Not the biggest arachnid fan.

The cats just looked at him and weren't interesting. Typical. Gone are the days when Maia would bring me a spider in bed. For the record I'm not looking back on those days fondly.

We sat in the yard all evening waiting for our internet to come back on. It didn't. Customer Services weren't available to speak with so we just drank gin and talked to each other. Shocking, I know!

We may have annoyed the neighbours a little as I can't say we were being particularly quiet...and we didn't get to bed til, like, 1am...

:)

17th May 2014 - Tiddy-om-pom POM!

Saturday morning and I woke up around 8am feeling fine! I think Paul was ok too, which is good!

I had a few things that I wanted to get done today, after being kinda lazy last weekend, but there was one thing that was hindering that plan. It was going to be a scorcher of a weekend! After naff weather these last few weeks, it was going to be warm and sunny and nice!

Which made me get up out of bed and be productive! I was up by 9! This is unheard of!

I gave Paul some tasks to do and I headed out into the yard as I decided I wanted to give it a good clear out and blast it with the jet wash! We did it last year and haven't had the weather to do it since but I really enjoyed sitting in it last year when it was nice and doing all my wedding crafts out there so why not? Plus it means we can have a dining table which is an even bigger incentive!

We had some stuff that needed chucking out so I opened the gate to put it in the alley for a while and discovered one of our lovely neighbours decided to use the space literally outside our gate as their bin, leaving full bin bags just sat there. Right next to wheelie bins which were not full. I was not happy.

I moved the bin bags only to discover millions (probably literally) of ants, a few slugs and LOADS of flies streaming where they had been. ARGH. I needed to have a rant or two. It's just rude. It's quite clearly a gate so why do people think that it's ok to put their (literal) crap there?

Anyway, once I got my rant off my chest (to Paul on the phone and also to my parents!) I decided to start washing out the yard with bleach and hot water.

Not the most fun process but necessary! The bleach would help remove any kitty...odours...that may be hanging around.

Paul eventually got back from doing some shopping and he also came bearing gifts! A wedding gift to be precise! We had been gifted the following by C & D but they hadn't been in stock at the time of delivery being off season. Well, it's definitely season now so Paul went to collect this:

A ruck sack? Not just any ruck sack...

A picnic set! I LOVE IT! I was so excited by this and gutted that we didn't get one at gift delivery time! As the weather was going to be so nice we decided that after we'd done our work, we'd go for a short drive and have lunch there!

So back to work we go! Meaning Paul's turn to get his feet wet - this time with the jet wash!

I think he enjoys doing it. Just a tiny bit!

There were also some large spiders living in the hosepipe. I wasn't so keen on those.

Once it was jet washed and I was satisfied, Paul got to preparing some food and I showered. Then - TO THE BEACH!

A proper sandy beach too! This is also the beach where we had our pre-wedding photos taken.

Nice sign. Shame that it was completely ignored. Bad public. Very bad.

The thing with the beaches up here is that the sea is VERY far away! The tide went further out the longer we were there but it was such a lovely day we didn't care! What's the point in living so close to the seaside and not going to enjoy it?!

This is the life! :) Those pasty white legs need some vitamin D!

We stayed at the beach for a good few hours, enjoying the relaxation and doing absolutely nothing. It was divine! We then decided to head home but first we had to go for a little paddle!

The walk to the sea was even further away. It probably took about 5 minutes to walk to it!

Over there in the distance you might just be able to make out Blackpool Tower!

Paul having a paddle! It wasn't too cold! Nowhere near as warm as it had been last year when we went but still quite refreshing!

Me in my short which it turns out are too big for me. Which is nice!

Coastal view! Very pretty! We'll definitely come back next time the weather is nice!

When we got back, the yard had near enough dried, which was good, so I set to and put some of the furniture back out into the yard.

He so loves climbing the ladder. Those paw prints are quite embarrassing. I also don't think they are kitty paw prints. Huh. Can't see those in real life. Think I should go clean up out there!

I decided I wanted to stay outside, so after the FA Cup Final finished, Paul came out to join me! Barney also found somewhere else to cozy up!

I wish Maia liked being in her box so much!

We were both still not so hungry after our picnic so we had 'picky bits' with salad for our dinner.

That tart was goats cheese and red pepper. It was DIVINE!

It was going dark so instead of heading inside, we got some candles and sat out by candlelight instead! We had a visitor as well!

Guys, this is Phil. He was one of the large spiders that was living in the hosepipe. The next time I turned around, a few seconds later he was gone. That was alarming.

After a while I was getting tired (and tipsy) so headed to bed. Successful day! Productive and relaxing at the same time! Winner!

06/08/2013 - It's a Bug's Life

It's Tuesday morning and yet again I went to the gym. I did a kinesis circuit today so still fairly light on my back. The exercise is definitely helping it improve. I'm really pleased.

Then to work, where it was the same old same old. Can't really complain but it's all a bit dull.

I received this picture whilst I was at work today. It made me smile.

Someone has decorated their Beetle as a Ladybird. With daisy wheels.

Someone actually drives this car and chose to have it done.

Only in Liverpool. #Sigh.

After work I came home and got straight to work on the place cards. This was the only night this week that I would get to do this, so had to concentrate. I had a tough table. Found it really difficult to think of ideas so it took longer than usual.

I noticed a new friend while I was crafting. I'd like you to meet our new pet Sid.

He's got long legs and an interesting (and pretty hideous) body. A bit like a woodlouse.

Yes, there's another spider's carcass underneath him. He's one tough cookie, our Sid.

Neither cat wants to be his friend though...which is a shame...

I got my table done and was going to do some more, but it was getting late  so Paul persuaded me to head to bed like a good little soldier.
