7th September 2014 - Year One = Done! :)

It's our First Wedding Anniversary today! WHOOP! We survived the first year! I think that's a pretty amazing achievement if you ask me! :)

We went for breakfast before we started our day. It was ok. Not the massive plate of breakfast that Paul is used to, but that probably just means that it was normal person portion size!

We then got ready and headed our into the countryside! Big day of fun ahead!

First (and technically only) stop: Cheddar Gorge! Beautiful countryside and lots to do! Starting with Gough's Cave, which had an audio commentary. Not like the retro old days of a cassette walkman, this was a digital phone-like prong!

We got the full story and it was very interesting! The caves themselves were visually stunning! Nature is weird!

It's weird walking through as some of it sort of looks a bit fake! Like you're walking on a movie set of a cave, as it's all shiny and looks plastic. It's just wet! So cool though!

From there, we went to meet Cheddar Man! Ok, not really, as he's just a skeleton, but it was a museum of Prehistory. It was quite interesting, although learning about cannibalism is a little icky!

These are recreations of mammoth tusks. Taller than Paul. Scary.

Then there was the bit that gave me nightmares. Or would if I hadn't been merry when I went to bed...

Sorry if this haunts you too...but seriously, is there any need?! Reading the visitors' book at the end of the museum seems to suggest that I'm not the only one who thought this!

From there we had a look in a few shops and headed down to the next cave, Cox's Cave. This was far smaller and just something to look at really.

Through the cave is a game thing, what was billed as a 'Lord of the Rings' type mission. Sounds right up my street, no?

Yeah, it sucked. Got to be honest. Just walk through a bit of cave, listen to some story line which was pretty much a direct rip-off from Lord of the Rings, just with a few tiny alterations to the name and then into a cavern with a dragon and all you had to do was touch the crystal.

I'm sure kids would enjoy it. Adults in their 30s who weren't merry...not so much!

From there we headed straight up 'Jacob's Ladder' which were 274 steps uphill through a forest. On the way up there were little signs explaining the evolution of the planet as we know it. Including the dinosaurs. We were most amused by this one in particular.

He looks a little miffed, no? "Oh drat!"

At the top of the steps there is a watchtower to give 360 degree views over Cheddar and surrounding area. Where I stood to take a few pictures amused me!

Only I would stand somewhere that reminds me of home!

Fantastic views.

We walked for a while, pausing to admire the beauty of the surrounding area...and to take an anniversary selfie!

We had a really nice walk and felt that we were walking forever but as it was pretty, we didn't mind too much...we were just a little thirsty!

Some goats. Because.

We eventually got back to the village and decided to find a good local pub in which to have a drink and a bite to eat. Cheddar is actually really pretty, not just quaint and full of tourists!

Lovely!

We had a massive ploughmans' lunch (which I didn't take a picture of as we were so famished!) and a couple of ciders while we decided what we wanted to do with the rest of the day. We also celebrated the moment (ish) that we had been married a year. We guestimated about 2:30pm but as neither of us can remember exactly how late I was, we can't be certain!

We headed out to some more shops and looked around a cheese shop, sampling loads of different cheeses, which were amazing! Naturally we had to buy some as gifts for people!

Instead of taking an open-top bus tour around the area, we decided to head back to Burnham.

Our lovely B&B had got us some prosecco so we sat out on their back patio, played some music and enjoyed some sunshine! It was lovely!

Through that glass door ahead was the indoor heated swimming pool! We could have used it but didn't have time! Maybe next time, should we go again! :)

I also logged into Facebook on Paul's iPad (my phone was charging in our room and I had forgotten it all day!) and Facebook even wished us a happy anniversary!

Ah, memories!

I had also been trying to use up one last remnant from our wedding which seem to be lasting forever!

I still had 3 of these bad boys to finish off! We've been snapping pictures for AGES on these! Still have about 12 to be developed as they weren't finished. Plus they're expensive to develop! Especially when there is no guarantee that every picture will come out.

It started to get a bit chilly, so we headed back up to our room, fizz in hand, to relax and prepare for our evening's excursion! When we got in, we discovered that the owners of the B&B had left us a little something!

Aw! so nice of them! We decided not to drink it tonight though. Don't want to waste tomorrow with a sore head!

As it's Sunday, a lot of the town was shut. The nicest restaurant we could find that was open was a curry house! It was very highly rated on Trip Advisor, so we decided to go for it! We like curry and were planning on going there tomorrow, so why not tonight?!

It was fairly quiet in the curry house. We had some poppadoms to start and then our main courses arrived.

I had the Chandni Burnham on Sea Special...which was (needs to load menu to remember exactly!) lamb tikka, chicken tikka and tandoori chicken in a 'special' sauce. So when it arrived I was a little surprised!

It hadn't mentioned an omelette on the menu! Still, it was a nice addition!

Paul had something that I can't remember the name of which was labelled hot. It wasn't hot. I could have eaten it no problem. Shame really. My boy does like his hot curry!

Food was very good though and the biggest surprise was that we both ate pretty much all of it! That never happens! I normally wimp out but it was so delicious that it all was eaten!

Paul even had room for pudding! He ordered a hazelnut bomb (I think it was called - it's not listed on any menu!) and was a little bit surprised with what he got!

Tiny bomb! Thankfully, they had given us two spoons so I could help him eat that mountain of pudding! :)

We had a quick drink before heading back to the B&B. We were both shattered! The sea air is clearly getting to us! Nothing to do with the alcohol at all. No, sir!

6th September 2014 - Road Trip!

I didn't have a great night's sleep. Sadly. The cats were happy but Paul decided to take up pretty much the whole bed so I had to sleep on the floor for a little while! It's only a small bed so I can't get annoyed! Paul is a giant!

We got up early as we wanted to make an early start on our little journey we took today!

Before we left, we had to make sure that the cats were happy!

Yep. Think we can safely say that they're quite content and won't miss us for a second!

We got on our way fairly handy, taking a little jaunt down the M6 to Lichfield to stop in on my parents! We managed to blag a brew and a bacon sandwich while we were there as well! Score!

Then we got the show on the road and headed off down the motorway a little further as we were heading to the seaside! WHOOP!

It was quite a long drive so we stopped off at the services for coffee and a cake.

Yum. Although the coffee seemed to go on for EVER. Can you tell I don't actually drink coffee very often?!

We got to our BnB at a fairly decent time and decided to get settled in then have a wander around the little town we were staying in. Very cute and quaint. Nothing like Blackpool or anything like that!

We found a few places we could go to eat but decided to head back to our room to chill out for a while and unpack a little.

Our choice for the evening - Italian. It was the highest rated restaurant in Burnham so we wanted to see what all the fuss was about.

I had pizza.

I ate most of it but the creamy ricotta was too much for me.

Paul had a giant calzone.

Sadly it wasn't full to the brim!

We then shared a tiramisu for pudding. It was ok. Not boozy enough for Paul's liking. He's very strict when it comes to tiramisu!

We headed to a pub and had a cheeky gin and tonic, but we were both knackered from the long drive (Paul more than I) so we didn't stay out too late and went to bed!

Exciting, no? Nothing like this time last year! :)

5th September 2014 - Happy Kitties!

I love lazy mornings in bed. I don't like it when I have a headache along with them but that's my fault for having cocktails on a Thursday night. Silly Cagga.

I REALLY didn't want to get up this morning but as there was so much to, I did and it could have been worse I suppose. I did manage to put it off until 10am, so that's good! :)

We did take regular breaks from being busy to play with the cats, though! Barney wasn't impressed with being constantly played with...or maybe it's the tickle game we were playing!

That's Barney's irritated face. It's so cute. I don't think it's suppose to be. :)

After we got all our jobs done, it was time to head over to Manchester! We have a few days away booked so the kitties had to go on holiday as well! I'd say that they can't really complain but they did a very good job of making their dislike known.

Serious noise from a Maia all the way there! 40 minutes of yowling isn't the most pleasant way of spending a journey!

Still, as soon as they got to Paul's parents' house, they soon cheered up!

Maia, about to make a jump for the top of the wardrobes!

Barney in the hallway. Look at all that room for him to run around in! He'll be skinny in no time! WHOOP! The way his eyes light up when the flash is on always makes me laugh!

Soon after, Barney noticed that Maia was on the wardrobes and wanted to join her!

The sideways head tilt is so cute. I love that boy!

We had some food and headed out to the pub for a few drinks. We are on holiday after all, plus I clearly hadn't learnt my lesson from the day before!

We met up with an old colleague of Paul's from that bar and sat chatting with his parents, pretending not to notice the group of locals outside the bar all snorting cocaine quite blatantly. Aherm.

We got back, chatted with Paul's parents a little more then headed to bed. Both cats were on top of the wardrobes still. They were being good. This bodes well! :)

4th September 2014 - Aaand we're done!

Not the best sleep but no time to lament that. There's work to be done!

I was in the office at 7:30am. WHAT?! I know, right? Considering how rubbish Tuesday was, how come I'm so eager to get there? Well, it's my last day in the office for nearly a week, so I needed to make sure everything got done! T had a bit of a stress yesterday that I was leaving her with bucket loads of work while I'm off, so I needed to be sure I wasn't doing that.

I got pretty much all of it done! Go me!

We also were given some support by A, which is very good indeed and we both ended the day feeling far more positive than we had been a few days earlier!

After work I headed into town to meet Paul as I had a few bits and bobs to get. Ended up not getting them as I couldn't be bothered to shop! It was too nice a day to be walking around shops! So we went for some food instead!

I had a chilli-dog!

It was messy, but good!

Paul had a traditional hot dog which was also good. Although we both agree that we don't like American mustard very much. All tang no trousers, in our opinion. We need heat, darn it! :) Give us English mustard any day! :)

I also might have been a little naughty...

Mmmm...gin cocktails! :) They were yummy!

We headed home and watched a bit of tv and watched Maia be cute on her boxes again!

Gorgeous and silly all in one perfect package!

I then went to bed. We get a lie in tomorrow morning! YAY!

3rd September 2014 - Positive Mental Attitude

I refuse to let today be as lousy as yesterday. It can't happen. I will not allow it.

So I got my game face on, put on my smart work dress and gave myself a pep talk. I didn't think the pep talk was enough, so I went for my secret weapon...

Bit of red lippy really goes a long way.

I walked to work with my head held high and determined not to let anything get to me today.

My resolve waivered a little around 11am but then when the opportunity arose I got a few things off my chest. Then things were a lot better. Not perfect, but better. I'll take better!

After work I came home and chilled a little. It needed doing. It's been a tough couple of days.

Paul got home and made fake Nand0s, which was good!

Maia also decided to make a box fort and act like a kitten! YAY! I like it when Maia's feeling playful!

She was rolling around inside the boxes purring her head off! Too cute! We REALLY need to get rid of the boxes but when both cats love them so much it's really difficult!

Then, to bed. Needs must. Early start tomorrow!

2nd September 2014 - No.

We got up and went to the gym. I'm not even joking! We totally worked out!

That means today will be a good day, right?!

Wrong.

Today was awful. Really really really really awful.

So I'm not going to talk about it.

I came home from my awful day and finished the ironing, being careful not to injure myself again.

When Paul came in, he comforted me after my awful day and brought me a gin and tonic which I pretty much necked straight down.

We watched some Community as I needed something light hearted to make me smile (which it sort of did) and then went to bed. I was knackered as being very upset can do that to you.

Sorry it's a crap post but I really don't want to remember today.

1st September 2014 - Happy Half Birthday, Edward! :)

My gorgeous little nephew is 6 months old today! YAY!

Photo stolen from Annabel's facebook!
I just love his little smile! It makes me so happy! My current favourite picture (which pretty much changes every single time my bro or Annabel posts a new picture) is this one:

Photo stolen from Michael's facebook (I think)
We bought him that cardigan! I love it! Such a happy little boy!

How is it September already?! Wasn't it only just my birthday?!

Anyway, we had a little lie in the morning and didn't gym. Instead straight to work and a busy day was had. Nothing particularly interesting happened. I had a productive day!

I came home and fed the cats as I usually do. I then noticed another daft thing Barney does.

Why eat from the front of the bowl, where the side is low and it's easy to get to, when you can eat over the high side?!

Cats are weird.

I then decided to tackle the ironing as there isn't a lot and I wanted to get it done.

The iron had other ideas. I don't think it wanted to be disturbed today. I got most of the work done but as I was rearranging a sleeve, it decided to attack me.

It fell on my hand.

It hurt.

WAAAAAAAA.

I feel like that dude out of Home Alone!

Taken from Hero Wikia
I know it's not on my face, but I feel as though it's just as obvious!

We had dinner and I sat and felt sorry for myself for a while.

As soon as the heat in my hand started to fade we went to bed. That's that!
