2nd December 2014 - Brr and Ouch

Even though it didn't seem like the sort of thing we wanted to do this morning, we got up and went to the gym! Neither of us were very inclined to go but we did and we were glad we did afterwards!

The downside to going to the gym is that it does make me have to rush a little when getting ready to go to work, so when feeding the cats quickly before leaving, I hurt myself. :(

Really deep cut on the tip of my index finger. Which, as it turns out,  need quite a lot when typing. Especially as it's on my left hand and I am left handed. I might have made lots of wimpery noises all day when aggravating it! It wouldn't stop bleeding and I'm a wimp!

T was off today and tomorrow so I was able to sing to myself all day in the office! Yeah, I do that. A is at the other end of the corridor so can't hear me. This is very much a good thing.

After work I headed home and had a little cuddle with my kitties and tried not to cut myself again when feeding them. Then I needed to find the perfect outfit for our evening activity!

I was successful, Paul came home, got changed and headed back out on our Tuesday night adventure.

We got stuck in traffic which was not good but we stuck with it and eventually reached our destination with very little time to spare!

Yep - Paul took me to see the football at Old Trafford. Manchester United vs Stoke City.

I was a bit bored in the first half as Manchester United had most of the possession which meant that the ball was at the opposite end of the pitch to where we were sitting so I couldn't really see. I am so used to watching on tv that I forget I have to pay attention to where the ball is!

See - the seats are right on the corner so when al the action is over the other side, it's a bit boring! Well - for me as a neutral fan on this occasion!

The second half was far more interesting as the ball was down this end of the pitch so I could see what was going on!

Then it was time for the long journey home. Great. This made it a very late night for us.

We got in and had a peppermint tea before heading to bed. Tomorrow could be interesting. Zzzzz.

1st September 2014 - Happy Half Birthday, Edward! :)

My gorgeous little nephew is 6 months old today! YAY!

Photo stolen from Annabel's facebook!
I just love his little smile! It makes me so happy! My current favourite picture (which pretty much changes every single time my bro or Annabel posts a new picture) is this one:

Photo stolen from Michael's facebook (I think)
We bought him that cardigan! I love it! Such a happy little boy!

How is it September already?! Wasn't it only just my birthday?!

Anyway, we had a little lie in the morning and didn't gym. Instead straight to work and a busy day was had. Nothing particularly interesting happened. I had a productive day!

I came home and fed the cats as I usually do. I then noticed another daft thing Barney does.

Why eat from the front of the bowl, where the side is low and it's easy to get to, when you can eat over the high side?!

Cats are weird.

I then decided to tackle the ironing as there isn't a lot and I wanted to get it done.

The iron had other ideas. I don't think it wanted to be disturbed today. I got most of the work done but as I was rearranging a sleeve, it decided to attack me.

It fell on my hand.

It hurt.

WAAAAAAAA.

I feel like that dude out of Home Alone!

Taken from Hero Wikia
I know it's not on my face, but I feel as though it's just as obvious!

We had dinner and I sat and felt sorry for myself for a while.

As soon as the heat in my hand started to fade we went to bed. That's that!

30th August 2014 - Ouch!

I woke up at around 2am with a REALLY bad headache. I went to bed with a bit of a headache and it must have just got worse as I slept. Paul and Maia's snoring did not help.

I got up to take painkillers and struggled to get back to sleep again. Great.

No lie in for us though. We had to get up early (for a Saturday) to take Barney to Fat Cat Club for weigh in! Yes, it's been 4 weeks since last time we went!

How did he do...well...

He has lost .25kg in the last 4 weeks! It might not sound a lot but the vet was pleased with his progress. It was also on the main vet scales which weren't favourable to him last time we went so we consider that a massive success! The vet fell in love with Barney, gave him and us a massive ego boost and told us to come back in 5 weeks so we can see her again as opposed to any one else. Think she's got a crush! :)

We came home and came back to bed for a little while to try to get more sleep but failed. So we had breakfast instead. Paul made himself a sausage and egg butty and I had museli. So I didn't feel left out, he brought me a bit of a gourmet breakfast which made me smile!

Herby sausage and brown sauce. Special treat!

When I left the house with Barney this morning, I fell over the top step of the front door. It hurt a little. I thought it was just a little graze.

The side of my manky foot got a little bruised. My toe also started cramping up again. It does this sometimes and it's really painful. I can't get it to stop, no matter how much stretching and massage I do. So whilst I lay on bed listening to the radio and planning my day, I put my trainer on it, hoping to support it a little!

It's a good look, right?!

Paul later remembered some stuff he learnt while on work experience at a Physiotherapist and that I might have something called Plantar Fasciitis. Having read about it using Dr Google, it sounds like he might be right. It could all be linked to the problems with my ankle/calves/hips/back. So that's nice. There's also no cure, I just have to stretch it out! Great. It's bloomin' painful!

If only I could just be a kitty. That seems easier!

Sunbathing in a sun puddle would be the perfect way of spending a day!

Barney preferred the tiny patch of sun he could get under the tray!

Eventually we got up. Paul went to watch football and I went to clean the upstairs bathroom and do a bit of sorting out in the spare room as Mum and Dad are coming to stay soon.

It was a productive afternoon and I got loads done! I then looked at my foot again and the purple is spreading!

We had dinner and watched Dr Who then the start of X Factor. Yes, it's back again as is Cowell. Which means it's nearly Christmas.

Paul watched some with me but was pretty tired so went to bed. I stayed up for a while, chatted with some friends and watched more tv.

I also watched Maia being a cutie pie!

She was rolling around being adorable! I tried to video it but she was having none of it. I managed to get her on video a little bit but not doing the rolling thing!

It was getting late so I headed to bed at around 1am. I'm surprised I was able to stay up that long!

29th June 2014 - Full of the joys of spring!

Waking up at silly o'clock after a long day full of fun and fizz is always pleasant.

My stomach didn't feel too amazing. Probably down to the lack of food yesterday saw. Yeah, thanks First Class. Urgh. Paul felt miles worse than I, however. I consider my hangover to be mild, to say the least, as there was no headache! That's a win if ever I could think of one!

As soon as he felt he could, Paul headed out to the shops so he could make some stodge for breakfast.

Toasted ham, egg and cheese sandwich (with salad to make it healthy) absolutely hit the spot. I could only eat the half that has gone though. I still wasn't feeling amazing. :(

We also noticed that Paul's bruise had changed a little bit. Last  week his calf was purple (from Chris and Ceri's wedding) and now it's more his ankle.

He says it doesn't hurt much but it sure isn't pretty!

We lounged around a LOT today. Watched some football and also The Avengers. Why not?!

Paul had the rather epic idea to have steak for dinner so we did! We had steak with peppercorn sauce, vegetables and mustard. Delish. It sorted me out good and proper. We also had some red wine to see if that helped! It did me, not sure it did for Paul.

We didn't have a late night as we were both sleepy tired. Should have had a nap but didn't.

Not really much to day about today except 'urnghhhhhhhhhhhh'.

26th June 2014 - I feel the BURN!

Guess what we did today... :) WE WENT TO THE GYM! I KNOW! Shocking! It was good! I went on the cross trainer and the wave machine and ended up a sweaty red mess! HUZZAH!

We came home and I got to have first shower! Yay to that as well! Paul didn't have to be out of the house til later than usual so I set him some chores to do because I'm a nasty horrible wife!

I also checked out the injury I mentioned on Sunday. The random burn I seem to have gained with no burn holes in my clothing! It's gone very red...I don't approve. :(

There it is. Sexy, huh? That's me trying to take a picture of my own back. Not an easy task! I guess you have no context of where on my back it is either. Maybe I'll leave it that way. I don't fancy doing much more in the way of contortions to get a shot! It still doesn't hurt but I know it's there. I'm wondering if my clothes are aggravating it? Not that I'm not going to wear any but I'm concerned that it's gone so red. Hmmm. Will see if it goes down and if not will get it checked out as it's going to scar my otherwise gorgeous bikini body. Ha. Ha. Ha. I am a comedienne!

I got a lift in to work and had a busy day with T. She's off tomorrow at a funeral so wanted to get as much done as possible. I just seemed to accumulate lots of bits of crap to deal with. Terrific. We also got told after lunch that our job was going to be changing a little and we were going to be given tasks that neither of us like to do. Great. Just what we want. Hmmmmph.

We finished work and I headed home. I had all the best intentions of being productive but instead started watching USA vs Germany and that took most of my attention. Bad Caroline.

Paul came home and we had dinner of piri piri chicken and salad. So basically fake n@nd0s without the naughty stuff. It wasn't as fun. Far healthier. Except the chocolate buttons we snarfed for pudding!

We watched more football, some Big Bang Theory (one I've seen before) and then headed to bed. Please let me sleep well, Powers That Be...

6th June 2014 - Injury, treats and kitty cats!

Friday morning is upon us once more! It's come round so soon, thank goodness!

We went off to the gym, like good folk! I decided I needed to do some arm weights so off to the weight machines I went. On one that is mostly for your triceps, my hand slipped and the handle whacked my wrist. Ouch. I felt that one. My whole arm went weak-ish afterwards. Carried on doing weights though! I'm good, right? More on that later.

Someone was being naughty when we got back home. Chasing Maia and making her growl. :( He got told off. This is his response.

Too cute to shout at, right? Yes, he pulled that pose last night as well while being good. That's because I hadn't been paying him enough attention. Can't win!

We had some technical problems today while at work. Not what is needed on a sunny Friday as we just want to go home! We got kicked out of our system for a spell so we filed our nails and put the world to rights until it came back on.

As it was such a lovely afternoon, there was only one thing for it at the end of the day. FOAMY FRIDAY!

Yes, Fizz Friday may be a thing of the past as it's difficult to justify the time to a whole bottle of prosecco, sadly. So I brought a couple of beers from home to enjoy last thing! It was nice!

Team building...or something like that!

When I got home, I did a few chores, then chilled in the yard waiting for Paul to come home. I also admired the purple mark that was appearing on my wrist from this morning's little incident...

Next to my knee for colour contrast. Why do my legs look tan? They're pasty as anything!

We chilled in the yard for the rest of the evening, enjoying a couple of beverages in the warmth. We did have company, too!

They both had their own folding chair so they could be part of the party! Bless them!

It then started to rain. Getting heavier and heavier, so we retreated inside. We have a busy weekend ahead so need some rest!

20th May 2014 - Fat Foot!

Another morning of getting up and going to the gym! Winner! I did a kinetic circuit and some more of the stretches as prescribed by the Italian torturer! Ouch.

It was really quite painful. When I got home I looked at my feet and could see the difference. My right foot is swollen. Not just the ankle, the whole flippin' foot!

You can see the attractive marks from my bandage but you can kinda also see that the bottom of my foot doesn't have the same arch as the other and that the skin is also much darker than the other. Residual bruise. Waaaa.

After feeling sorry for myself for far too long I got myself ready for work and toddled off there for another thrilling and exciting day. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Yeah, that was a funny joke!

I was given some new claims to process, which is all very well but I know nothing about the workings of said types of claim (criminal injury) and am now expected to handle them, input them and generally look after them. Yeah. Real pleased about that!

My ankle was really sore today, even wearing my trainers to work. That's not good. So instead of doing more ironing, I put my foot up and rested it with some heat.

At first I didn't like it. Then it was the best thing EVER! Very healing! Took loads of the swelling down! Shame it didn't last but it felt goooooood!

We decided to have a ridiculously early night tonight as neither of us slept particularly well last night and needed a chance to catch up on some sleep! Fingers crossed!

7th May 2014 - Happy Birthday Annabel!

It's my lovely sister-in-law's birthday today! Her first as a Mummy! Hope your boys spoilt you rotten!

Wednesday morning and the 'I'm allowed to have a lie in' feeling is awesome. All to soon it was time to go into work and do work type things.

A was in a meeting in town first thing which meant I got to open up. This is a good thing as I'm able to put all the lights on that I like! You see, A has a problem with the office being light. Minimal lighting allowed. Which means that the corridor is pretty dark, our room is on low light etc etc. Not on my watch, bucko! LET THERE BE LIGHT!

Sure enough, as soon as he came in, literally in the first 5 minutes of him walking through the door, the corridor light was off. The kitchen is part of the corridor and so we can't really see what we're doing! It means that the kitchen surfaces get mucky really easily and we have no idea unless I'm in my rebellious 'let's light it up' mood!

After work I had to get changed quickly and head into town as I had another appointment with the Italian Torturer*

I was quite early so had a little wander through a couple of shops to stay out of the rain and kill some time. I was still pretty early.

Rather drab waiting room.

So not only was I about 15 minutes early for my appointment, but my physiotherapist was running 10 minutes late. There wasn't even a magazine to entertain me. One was not amused.

Still, I had my full half hour of beating from The Torturer.* He worked out that I don't walk properly. Great. It explains all my hip problems and some of my back issues. He's going to put a program of stretches together for me so try to ease the muscles but the best thing for me at this stage is to change shoe!

I live in ballet pump-type shoes which are cheap and convenient, but also bad for your feet. As are Converse. Aherm.

The best thing for me is my running shoes for now. Also "ladies should always wear a heel - about 2cm". Ideally, for me, boots as they'll support my ankle and keep my foot straight.

Interesting stuff, but it's May. I don't want to be wearing heeled boots in the heat! I think I'm going to have to buy some better shoes. I was going to say 'orthopedic' shoes but they make me think of hideous things used to correct your walk if you have one leg longer than the other. I suppose I deserve to wear ridiculous shoes. Ministry of Silly Walks right here.

I got pummled a little more and then I got a fun new addition to my outfit. It matched as well, which is a plus...

There's a tiny hint!

Attractive, no?

It's not a support thing; it's more to help the circulation to ease the pain. Or something. I can hardly feel it, except when getting out of the shower and it's soaked through! It should only stay on about 4 days or so, so if it helps, great!

When we got back we had a quick tea and watched some tv! Penultimate episode of Shield, which was great entertainment, and some Hawaii 5-0. It's sad that it's season finale time. BOO.

To cheer me up, we had naughty treats.

Mmmm. Creme Brulee. My favourite. Not the best I've ever tasted, but not the worst! Definitely infinitely better than the Rumbaba!

I called my Mum who was on babysitting duty for little Teddy while my bro and sis-in-law were out for her birthday to see if she was coping. She was. He was sleeping. I miss him. :(

Then to bed. Ready for the pain from the physio to kick in in the morning!

5th May 2014 - Bank Holiday!

I love Bank Holiday Mondays! Free day of work AGAIN! I can't remember the last week I worked a full week! It's most excellent!

Woke up with a headache AGAIN this morning which isn't fair. I took more painkillers and waited for them to kick in. They eventually did and I felt much better for the rest of the day.

I had all good intentions of productivity for today, I really did! I meant to get stuff done! Honest! I had to write a few blog posts though, which took up quite a long time! It took AGES to write my birthday one! I'm so used to not actually doing anything so it's quite easy to write about! Having stuff to talk about makes for much more work! Still, I'm sure it made for a far more interesting post!

To be honest, the day went quite slowly, which was nice. I sorted some washing and other such domestic tasks but nothing exciting!

We watched Game of Thrones, which seemed to fly by! Usually the eps all seem long but not this one! We also caught up on some eps of tv that we missed last week as well.

So I've pretty much described the whole day and not shown you a picture yet! I noticed an UAI (Unidentified Alcohol Injury) during the day which made me laugh as I had no recollection of getting said injury. What was it?

Large bruise on my foot! There's one on the other foot as well! How the heck did I get that?! It will forever remain a mystery!

Then to bed. Back to work tomorrow. JOY.

30th April 2014 - Torture

Another day another lie in! Yep, it's the 3rd day off in a row and I'm loving the not having to get up thing!

It was nice to wake up to my kitties giving me a cuddle! Maia on my legs and Barney at my feet!

Check out those glowy belly dots! :)

My kitties are just so darn cute!

It's hard being a Barney. He was squeaking his snores out while dreaming! So cute!

Maia was just chilling too. I think it's the only time they get along no problems!

My ankle and leg was quite sore today after all the walking yesterday, so Paul decided that I was going to get an appointment with a physio to see what it is that's wrong with me. They managed to fit me in really quickly! Later on today as a matter of fact! So I got up and showered then we headed into town so I could get my leg checked out.

The place that we went was very odd. It was on the fourth floor of an office building but there was nobody there! No reception or anything! So I sat and waited. Eventually a nice (HA!) Italian chap came out and got to work on my leg!

He said he needed to get the blood to the muscle and it is definitely the calf that is causing the problems with my ankle. He massaged the ankle, then moved up to my calf and then also did some work on my lower inner thigh. It hurt. A lot. He said "Italian physiotherapy hurts more than English"...hmmm...I'm inclined to agree!

From there we went to the shop to grab a few little bits and bobs and then headed home. We had some stuff to do there before we had extra special birthday #Whedonsday!

It was fun! I also got gifts! WHOOP WHOOP! Extra special gifts as they were wrapped in home-made wrapping paper!

Chris is so creative! All the #Whedonsday goodness we experience right there!

What did I get? WELL!

It's a Deadly Storm comic, as referenced in Castle! AWESOME! Can't wait to read this!

Also what looks like the most amazing movie ever! David Hasselhoff as Nick Fury! This is going to be AWESOME! If Stan Lee thinks that David Hasselhoff is the ultimate Nick Fury he must be really disappointed with Samuel L Jackson!

Instead of our regular #Whedonsday viewing, we watched the new Joss movie, In Your Eyes. It's really good. Extremely cringy in parts, but good! We enjoyed it very much! We also watched the latest ep of #SHIELD which was also really good!

After #Whedonsday was over it was time for me to do my exercises as advised by Alessandro. I then also noticed that he had bruised me. He had told me he might. Yep - he was right.

Ignore my ugly feet. The bruises are actually new and sore. Not a good look, huh?

Bed time!

24th April 2014 - Steam and Scream!

Shall we gym? Shall we? Yeah. Nope. Not what we're doing! Leg is still bad. Don't want to aggravate it. I'm starting to get annoyed by the lack of gym in my life. I miss the treadmill!

So yeah, off to work we go. Nothing exciting happened at all, but I was nice and busy. Have loads to do in the next couple of days.

After work I went home and decided that I needed to keep on with the productivity! Plus Paul needed a shirt for tomorrow. So a hot date with my iron was called for!

Didn't get a lot done but gone some and some is better than none so I claim tonight as a success!

We had dinner and watched Arrow, which was pretty shocking! Then we went to bed and Paul attacked me.

Ok, so I asked him to massage my leg but IT REALLY FLIPPIN' HURT!

Google made me a nice gif. Isn't that nice of them? Thank goodness it doesn't have sound because all you'd hear was me screaming in pain!

It did help though. Fingers crossed it keeps improving!

14th April 2014 - Happy Birthday Koran!

It's my lovely friend Koran's birthday today! She helped me a lot last year with all the weddingy stuff (plus her causing my love and adoration of gin!) so she deserves a little shoutout!

We didn't go to the gym this morning as we both found it very difficult to sleep last night. I guess that's the problem with getting in late. It takes a little to wind down.

So off to work we went, not really wanting to go. I was slightly later than I usually am, by all of 5 minutes or so, but still 10 minutes early. I get to my desk to discover that everyone has a nice hot drink made for them. Except me. It wasn't T, as she'd have made me one, so it was one of the other two. BossMan T doesn't make drinks for everyone so that leaves A. Who I have to report to if i'm not coming in to work. So he knew I was going to be in, but didn't think when pouring into 3 other cups 'I'll make one for Caroline as well'.

That annoyed me. So I made a LOT of noise when making a drink for myself. Not offering anyone else one. I am tired and this put me in a bad mood!

I got over my bad mood for a little while, then discovered I was limping. Yeah. I hadn't noticed until T pointed it out! Turns out my ankle hurts. No idea why or how as I haven't done anything to it. I think my left calf is a little tight and it's taking it's toll maybe? I don't know. I'm not an expert on these things.

After getting home, somehow, I did a few chores and then decided that the best thing for me would be to relax a little and elevate my ankle. Paul made dinner and we watched Hawaii 5-0 and Game of Thrones.

We had Puerto-Rican chicken and rice for dinner from a Levi Roots cookbook. It was REALLY nice! Definitely going to be made again!

After Thrones I decided I wanted to head to bed as I was still pretty tired and my ankle wasn't feeling any better.

I can't decide if it looks bruised or not. I think there a little patches of purple but no real swelling. Just pain.

I asked Paul to massage my calves a little to see if that helped. A whole realm of pain was opened up. Not a good way to send oneself to sleep!
