17th December 2014 - Shiny!

Back to work today and it was another busy one.

One of our flexi-time team of troops came in to do some file work for us which means we have more time to get other things done. It's great and we really appreciate it...except that the computer kept crashing, which hinders us somewhat.

Seriously, we lost our connection well over 20 times today. Productivity was awful. We were all cranky.

Couldn't stay too cranky for too long, though, as I had to head home sharpish to prepare for the last #Whedonsday of the year. The mid-season finale, if you like!

It was a good evening! We had fun, beer, laughs and Chris got the rest of his birthday present!

It's only a Serenity key chain! Isn't it lush?! I think Chris liked it, so SCORE!

We ate chilli and watched some very miserable episodes of Buffy and Angel. Way to peak before Christmas! Ah well!

Chris then left and we cleared up before heading to bed. I was sleeeeepy again! I don't think I'm getting enough sleep.

10th December 2014 - 2 Weeks til Christmas Eve!

Another lazy morning. We made a deal that we would get up at 10 and do chores/get on with our day.

Paul went to make breakfast and I meant to get up and do stuff...but I was disturbed. I was held hostage and what was I to do?!

I had to not work for longer than I had planned to make the most of my cug!

I then remembered I needed to make a birthday card for Chris as it was his birthday on Saturday and I am a bad friend and didn't give him his present before the day. Well...why not make the magic of a birthday last a little longer?!

I didn't take a picture of it but it was awesome. You'll just have to trust me on that one! It would have been more awesome but I was a 'y' scrabble tile short. Meh.

I then decided while I had my craft kit out to make some Christmas cards! Fun fun fun! Except it makes my back hurt a little bit so I had to quit after a while.

I got a few ideas on camera though so I could make them should the inspiration strike again.

We did a little clearing up all ready for #Whedonsday. When Chris arrived we gave him his card and part of his present - a ducky tie! I think it was a hit!

After some tv fun and games, some delicious italian shepherds pie, beer and the usual evening fun, it was over too soon and Chris headed out.

We chilled a little but as Paul's in work tomorrow we called it quits pretty soon.

3rd December 2014 - Pickly Goodness.

Thank goodness today is Wednesday so we don't have to feel bad about staying in bed as long as possible. Well - for me anyway. Paul had to get up early and go back over to Manchester!

I stayed in bed as long as was allowed then got up and got ready for work. I expected to be tired all day but I didn't do too badly and got quite a lot of stuff done!

Then home pretty sharpish to make sure the house was ship shape for #Whedonsday! Both Chris and Paul were late getting in which meant I started napping a little on the sofa. Oops. I woke and was the life and soul of the party. Honest!

Paul then brought out some poppadoms and chutney with lime pickle. Yeah. Like a moth to a flame I was drawn in and devoured far more than I probably should have!

No idea where that Neighbours Spoon has come from. I've never been to Australia, let alone to the Neighbours set. Hmmm. Any ideas, anyone?

#Whedonsday was fun, as ever, and as soon as it was all over with and our guest left we cleared up a little and then headed to bed.

1st October 2014 - Shredder.

Ah, the Wednesday lie in. We made it extra specially nice by setting the gym alarm to have the joy of switching it off and going back to sleep for longer than the usual 10 minute snooze! 

Work was a little better today but still not amazing. Got quite a bit done and feel like I'm getting a little more on top of things. Just wish I could enjoy it more!

After work it was time to get home and prepare for our usual #Whedonsday fun and frolics! We were looking forward to an evening of television gold and yummy food!

Paul was trying out a new recipe tonight, which started out like this:

Grated potato. That's a whole lot of starchy goodness!

The finished result was pretty yummy!

Sausage with potato rosti and onion gravy. 

We all ate loads and enjoyed it! Paul has thought of a few alterations he would made next time but it's definitely a hit!

We also had naughty pudding. Shh...don't tell! Spoilt for choice between flavours of cheesecake I couldn't pick...so I asked for half and half!

Mmmmmmm!

We watched a few eps of Whedony projects and played with Barney for a while as he needed to be active!

After Chris left, we cleared up a little and then went to bed. Hoping for a good night's sleep!

17th September 2014 - Foamy!

What should have been a beautiful lie in this morning was ruined by Paul having to go to work early for a do. Not impressed. Stupid work.

I got to work slightly earlier instead to get some stuff done before I had to give up my desk. Could have done with a lot longer than I had but that's my own fault for not getting up earlier!

I came home and did a small bit of sorting out before the evening's entertainment! Yes, it's #Whedonsday once more!

For dinner, Paul made Meatloaf in a spicy tomato sauce with green veg!

 The sauce was a lot hotter than we usually have. Must have got an extra hot chilli this time, but it was good! The lemon torte we had for pudding helped cool the mouth!

Our first ep of Buffy this evening was one of our personal favourites - just for being a bit daft more than anything else!

Key lessons learned from it, I think. It talks about about The ID and that the mind wants what the mind wants!

27th August 2014 - Tacky Treasures!

Feeling only a teeny tiny bit better today. Just a little update for you.

Today was pretty much the same old same old all over again! Nothing new to report about work. It was busy and the computer crashed again for about an hour. Not helpful for our productivity.

I got home and did a little bit of clearing up as Chris was coming over for #Whedonsday! Yay!

We haven't seen him for a few weeks as he has been to Florida with his family for some fun! As is our tradition, he brought us an amazing present back! I think he has peaked with this beauty!

 Nothing says Florida more than a plastic bible, some praying hands, a couple of shells and some plastic plant thing glued onto a large shell and attached to a magnet, right?!

It's a thing of beauty!

We ate Hong Kong pork curry (or King Kong Curry as we know it), drank beer and watched Whedon for a few hours! It was a good evening.

Once Chris went to catch his train, it was time for us to wind down and go to bed. We're lightweights. Can't be seeing 11pm! That would be ridiculous!

6th August 2014 - Oooh, child, things are gonna get easier...

Today got off to a bad start. Did it get better? Maybe. You'll see.

Paul had to be in work early so he got up at our usual gym time. It's not so bad when you have to get up for it but when you can stay in bed and sleep it's a bad thing.

While he was showering I dozed for a while but as soon as he was done, I was awake. While Paul was getting dressed, Barney decided he wanted to do an impression of his Daddy.

"I'm businessman Daddy! Look how important I am in my suit!"

Paul wasn't too keen on Beep being in his jacket, so he soon had to scoot.

I lazed in bed for a little while with positively no desire to get up. I did though. I had to. That's the only reason I got up.

It was also absolutely pouring down with rain. Torrential. I was looking to leave the house but didn't really fancy it, to be honest.

Ick. Which is funny, because the weather forecast had other ideas!

 What part of Wavertree is sunny? Clearly not any part around my house.

I REALLY didn't want to leave the house. Walking in heavy rain isn't something I'm a fan of.

I got to work and the day was awful. No ins and outs for you as you really probably could care less, but I wasn't in a good mood and things weren't going well for me. Let's put it like that. There may have been a few tears. Joys  of being alone in your office is that you can cry and no one will see!

I got to late morning and decided I needed to man up as things were not going to fix themselves. I had to do some of the work to make that happen. So I did.

By lunch time things were a tiny big brighter.

I titted about on the internet over lunch and when I started back to work I got an email:

Do I know Paul Kirkham? Hmmmmmm. Let me think about that one...we've only been together nearly 7 years and married for nearly 1...so I'd hope so!

I got through the day and got stuff done that I had never done before and it seemed to go ok!

I just wanted to get home as Wednesday evenings are always the best ones! This was no exception as this #Whedonsday we took a trip to the cinema!

First, we had to have some food. I got nachos. They were...messy...

HELL YEAH, JALAPEÑOS!

So last week's blog post title would actually be more appropriate for today! Oh well!

What did we go to see, I hear you ask? Well...this!

We saw it in 3D rather than imax as the timing was all a bit wrong for a 2 hour movie.

We enjoyed it! It's far funnier than most other movies in the Marvel-verse...and is meant to be, rather than being so bad you LOL at it! Lots of great moments and I'm looking forward to seeing it again!

Oh, and spoiler:

Not sure where it's from but I didn't make it!

I want one.

We got home about 9:45pm and I was shattered so headed to bed. I'm such a lightweight! Can't stay up late any more!

11th June 2014 - 700th Post! Yowza!

I can't quite believe this is post 700! Not that all of them are particularly verbose but still! WOW!

Wednesday is normally a lie in day but I didn't get one. Paul had to be up early to get out on the road for work. Boo.

Yeah, it's Wednesday! Also known as lie in day! WHERE'S MY LIE IN?!

Alas, it was not to be, so I headed to work for another Groundhog Day. It really was. I decided to take myself on a little stroll in the sunshine at lunch time as the office was driving me crazy. It was nice! Plus I had to post my cancellation to Virgin Media so a trip to the Post Office was in order. I liked getting out and about! I really should do it more!

The afternoon dragged even more and I could have cried. Luckily for me, hometime came and I was able to prepare myself for #Whedonsday!

We watched a good few eps, leaving us ready for finale time next time. Sad news, folks. Next time isn't going to be for AGES! You see, the lovely Chris gets married next weekend and then goes on honeymoon and when he comes back, we go away! So there'll be no gathering of our awesome minds for AGES. :( Still, I suppose it's for the best. Chris should get married to his beloved. It's a good thing!

4th June 2014 - Barney vs Hanger

It was an exciting morning at Casa De Kirkham! Yeah, Paul had to be out early, leaving me in bed, but I got to witness the fight of the century! Barney Eric Kirkham vs Paul's Suit Hanger!

The hanger won. But Barney gave it a good go! I have no doubt that there will be a rematch in the not too distant future!

Work was work and yeah, whatever.

Luckily for me, there was good stuff to come as it's Wednesday night and therefore #WHEDONSDAY! Whoop!

Chris came over and kindly tried to fix our wireless issues but without success.We watched some Buffy, ate dinner and relaxed a little, listening to the horrendous rain outside! T'was nice! Things are getting dark in Sunnydale!

I headed to bed once Chris left. Tired tired tired.

14th May 2014 - Freebies and Finales

Yay for Wednesday! It's a pretty ace day of the week, no? I might go so far as saying it's my third favourite (after Saturday and Sunday, of course!) which is odd, because I know a lot of people would pick Friday over Wednesday but Friday doesn't have #Whedonsday, which lessens it's appeal to me!

Before #Whedonsday, I had work, which is the downside to any day which isn't Saturday or Sunday, but as A isn't in today, it meant we could have the lights on! Which may sound like an odd thing to say, but I must have mentioned it before, but am too lazy to go back to check!

It was a fairly long day in fairness. We had some music on to keep us going, but sometimes you need something more!

When I got home I did the last bit of prep for #Whedonsday and even helped prepare some of dinner! Twice in one week I've been allowed into the kitchen! I think this is a first!

It's only because Paul was late getting home from having a do, so Chris entertained me while I chopped veg! I even chopped an onion and didn't cry! :)

Paul got back from his do with some freebies, which is the only reason I let him go to these things don't mind him going to these things and being late home!

For some reason the pic won't rotate but there are many pens there, some chocolate, a giant lollipop, an umbrella (ella ella), two sets of headphones and a headphone splitter! I'd say that's a pretty good haul! Who doesn't need more pens, right? One of them even has a rubber end on it so you can use it on your tablet or smart phone! That's genius right there!

We started watching Buffy while Paul cooked and had a couple of good episodes in the mix. We at the Puerto Rican chicken and rice thing we had the other week while we watched. Then, due to the lateness of the commencement of #Whedonsday we couldn't fit any more Buffy into the evening as we had the season finale of Shield to watch! It was good! Can't believe we have to wait until September for it to start again! See you later, Shield! We also had cheesecake, prepared by me yesterday!

With extra blueberries and drowned in cream. Because healthy cheesecake isn't something we do here. It has to be fattening!

The boys both liked it! I couldn't taste anything. Stupid disability. The base was really nice and I definitely might do the oaty thing again. I might make it again but smaller next time as it's pretty epic a cheesecake.

After #Whedonsday was done and we were alone again, we headed up to bed. Nothing exciting there I'm afraid!

30th April 2014 - Torture

Another day another lie in! Yep, it's the 3rd day off in a row and I'm loving the not having to get up thing!

It was nice to wake up to my kitties giving me a cuddle! Maia on my legs and Barney at my feet!

 It's hard being a Barney. He was squeaking his snores out while dreaming! So cute!

Maia was just chilling too. I think it's the only time they get along no problems!

My ankle and leg was quite sore today after all the walking yesterday, so Paul decided that I was going to get an appointment with a physio to see what it is that's wrong with me. They managed to fit me in really quickly! Later on today as a matter of fact! So I got up and showered then we headed into town so I could get my leg checked out.

The place that we went was very odd. It was on the fourth floor of an office building but there was nobody there! No reception or anything! So I sat and waited. Eventually a nice (HA!) Italian chap came out and got to work on my leg!

He said he needed to get the blood to the muscle and it is definitely the calf that is causing the problems with my ankle. He massaged the ankle, then moved up to my calf and then also did some work on my lower inner thigh. It hurt. A lot. He said "Italian physiotherapy hurts more than English"...hmmm...I'm inclined to agree!

From there we went to the shop to grab a few little bits and bobs and then headed home. We had some stuff to do there before we had extra special birthday #Whedonsday!

It was fun! I also got gifts! WHOOP WHOOP! Extra special gifts as they were wrapped in home-made wrapping paper!

Chris is so creative! All the #Whedonsday goodness we experience right there!

What did I get? WELL!

It's a Deadly Storm comic, as referenced in Castle! AWESOME! Can't wait to read this!

Also what looks like the most amazing movie ever! David Hasselhoff as Nick Fury! This is going to be AWESOME! If Stan Lee thinks that David Hasselhoff is the ultimate Nick Fury he must be really disappointed with Samuel L Jackson!

Instead of our regular #Whedonsday viewing, we watched the new Joss movie, In Your Eyes. It's really good. Extremely cringy in parts, but good! We enjoyed it very much! We also watched the latest ep of #SHIELD which was also really good!

After #Whedonsday was over it was time for me to do my exercises as advised by Alessandro. I then also noticed that he had bruised me. He had told me he might. Yep - he was right.

Ignore my ugly feet. The bruises are actually new and sore. Not a good look, huh?

23rd April 2014 - Naughty naughty, very naughty!

Paul had to be up and out of the office early this morning. Boo.

Paul being up and out early lead to Barney being the naughtiest of naughty boys all morning. He was chasing and attacking Maia pretty much from the time I got up to the time I left the house. I had to move Maia on more than one occasion to get her out of the way of his wrath. No idea why he got the devil in him but I was not amused.

While Maia was out of the way, he took out his vengeance on something else.

Move over, Andrex puppy - Barney will give you a run for your money. Urgh. So naughty.

After doing a little clearing up I headed to work for another loooooong day in the office. SO. DULL.

After work I came home and prepped myself for an evening of #Whedonsday action! WHOOP! It's BA-ACK! We watched some Buffy, which we had neglected for a few weeks and the most recent episode of SHIELD which was also good and really upping it's game. Shame there are only a couple of episodes left this season.

Once #Whedonsday ended we had peppermint tea and headed for bed. Only I couldn't get in. Someone else was being me.

That boy is so cute. SO NAUGHTY but so cute, darn it!

Once he moved, it was sleepy time!

2nd April 2014 - Kiss Rocks

Barney using Mummy as a human trampoline at silly am is always a fun way to be woken up. Had about 4 hours sleep. Yay.

Nice little lie in due to no gym but then same old same old once more.

It was another long day at work. I didn't enjoy it much. The only good bit was getting to take the post to the post box which meant I got away from my desk for 10 minutes! Yep - when that's the best part of your working day, you know something isn't right.

Not soon enough it was time to head home to prepare for #Whedonsday! WHOOP!

I got in and discovered I had a delivery! Double WHOOP!

YEAH! My new obsession can continue! Not sure I can wait and save this for holiday! This might have to be a bed time read. Although that's always dangerous! Hmmm. Might just have to read it on Sunday!

#Whedonsday happened and it was awesome! A few great episodes tonight, including Band Candy, which is one of our favourites! I mean, how can you go wrong when the adults act like teenagers?!

We also watched the latest ep of SHIELD where it all starts going a lot darker and are left on a bit of a cliffhanger for the next ep. We don't know when that will be! So we decided that next week, we'll go and see the new Captain America movie, just in case there is a tie in. We don't want to miss in-jokes now, do we?!

Then to bed. Because it's been a bloomin' long day!
