20th December 2014 - Seriously...AGAIN?!

I woke up at about 5am with a hideous migraine.

I look lots of meds and lay down for a little longer. Paul got up and went to the cheese shop and chose some cheese for Christmas.

By the time he got back, I was feeling better so I got up too. I had remembered that I was crap and had forgotten to write & send pretty much any Christmas cards. Bad Caroline.

So I had to get them written and head out AGAIN. Into town. Yep - putting myself through the high street on the last Saturday before Christmas. Just after a migraine.

So I wrote the cards and noticed something wasn't quite right with one of them.

Someone needs to get fired for that. Do they not proof read?! Says someone who doesn't proof read...meh! I don't get paid to write this. I paid good money for that card!

So, Carlton Cards. I've even given you the bar code for the card to see if that helps you name and shame who made that mistake!

I got stuff done. Paul got stuff done. We were done!

We had a cheeky drink before heading to the car.

Doesn't look a lot but that's all done!

We got home and relaxed for a little while. It was very important to be lazy. I needed it!

We sat on the sofa and settled in for the Strictly final. Barney wasn't impressed by the lack of attention on him.

He took his star wand for a walk and dropped it by the front door! It's a subtle hint!

Paul made dinner while I was entertained by the dancing.

This is one of my favourite meals in the world and it was DE-LISH-US.

The dancing finished and the person I wanted to win won, so there was much to be happy about! Paul went to bed and I watched some random crap on tv for a little while. I then intended to head to bed...but fell asleep instead.

13th December 2014 - One Last Time

4:10am Paul came home. Yeah. Guess how impressed I was at that.

I pretended to be asleep as I knew that the alarm was set to go off at 7:30am and so wanted to get at least a few hours sleep.

I managed it and woke up with the alarm. Paul wasn't impressed at the alarm going off. Neither was he best pleased that he had to get up. Get up we did, though, as we had to get Barney to fat club for his last weigh in of the year!

We were bang on time, rather than early like we normally are, as we had to defrost the car as there were lovely patterns on the window. Probably should have taken pictures of that. Oh well!

When we got home, we headed to bed for a couple more hours' sleep. I was really grumpy so it was probably for the best to get me unconscious!

The time came for us to get up and go out again. We had a prior engagement that I wasn't going to cancel for ANYTHING!

We went to the local burrito place for a hangover-curing burrito for Paul, then headed from there into town. We had some time to kill before our important appointment so had a quick drink in a local mead establishment.

Whilst enjoying a cold foamy beer, I perused the extensive cocktail menu. I noticed something curious...

The Egg Nog contains 'some stuff'. What the heck is that?! Cat food? Steak? Ribena? WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?!

I don't really know what Egg Nog is. I can't say I've ever had any...so if people can tell me what the 'stuff' might be, I'd appreciate it!

We hurried out of the bar and over to our meeting.

One Last Time.

I loved it. I may or may not have had a little tear or two. I am going to have to see it again. Soon.

From there, we contemplated getting a little snack, but I started feeling a little poorly (I hit my head yesterday and the bump was a bit painful) so we went home. Paul went to bed as he was 'tired'. I watched Strictly and then X Factor. It was the final and seemed very...stretched. Got a bit bored so started watching comedy instead.

I then started nodding off so sent myself to bed. I'm so sensible.

22nd November 2014 - Seeing Things

Ah Saturday! How great you are! Even after a week off work I can appreciate a Saturday!

So much so that I didn't really do a lot during the day! Well, if not a lot is sorting 6 WHOLE LOADS OF WASHING. Yeah. That happened! Making sure all the winter warming wear is nice and clean now it's getting a little colder out!

As a treat, we decided to go for a late lunch/early dinner to somewhere we have been meaning to go for a while: Evil Eye Burrito!

We ordered some yummy deliciousness and awaited the same with a beer. I went to take a sip of said beer when I noticed an image appear before me!

Can you see it? Maybe from a different angle without the flash?

I can see a tiger in my beer! I realise that this would have been even more awesome if it had been Tiger Beer I was drinking, but it's a tiger all the same! Some people see the image of Jesus on burnt toast or The Grim in their tea leaves. Me? I see a large cat. Which makes sense!

If you can't see it, I've done a diagram below.

Can you see it now?

I almost didn't want to finish the beer...but once the food arrived, I knew I would need a bit of assistance. While I didn't order a really spicy meal, there was a kick to it.

Check out that beast! It was huge! Very delicious and reasonably priced too! Walking distance from the house...so yeah, we'll be going back!

Once we had eaten it all, we headed to the pub down the road from there to watch some of the football. The place was filled with rugby fans and people who didn't support Manchester United. Therefore while we were watching Manchester United, they were supporting Arsenal and basically stating that every time a United player tackled an Arsenal player it was a foul/red card/penalty.

Quite funny.

We left at half time and headed home for a little while. We had more plans ahead of us! I know! Get us! I do nothing for weeks and then seem to do loads in a short space of time!

Tonight we had a cinema date!

We were there quite early so ate a million and one sweets while awaiting the trailers. Admittedly, I wanted to see this film but I knew there would be a trailer for one I want to see more...

HI BARD! Why yes, I will watch The Hobbit trailer

Only a few more weeks to go! I'm so excited I can't hold my camera still to take a sneaky picture!

Then the main event:

It was good. Clearly the build up to the next film so not a lot happens but entertaining enough.

We went home, had a glass of wine, watched a little tv then went to bed.

15th November 2014 - Press For Beer

First day of holiday! Perfect time to lie in bed and waste the day away, no?

As it turns out, no, because Paul wanted to go into town and buy himself a present. My heart wasn't in it but to town we went.

I sent him off window shopping for himself and I decided to have a look around for treats for me. I stopped at my favourite make up brand's new counter in Boots and was talking to one of the ladies there about some new make up. She tested it on me. I was sold.

My new favourite make up in the world ever! It's a perfect match to me, too, which is good! I love it and the brush is so soft!

Ok, girly stuff over with. Paul and I walked around town for a bit then went to a bar that had only just opened a few days earlier. It was after 1pm, so this is acceptable.

Paul loves their beer and they have these bars over the country and now we have one of our very own in Liverpool!

Paul's favourite part of it...

You press the button and a waitress comes over! How awesome is that?!

We shopped a little longer and bought Paul a new suit, which is nice. We then took a bit more of a wander round. We found a little hidden bar that we didn't know was there...I believe it was called The Grove, so stopped for a quick drink in there as well!

I wasn't feeling my best though, so we headed home for a night in front of the tellybox.

We had little snacky things for dinner and then Paul bought these puddings.

No idea what is was. Paul loves chocolate puds. I'm not so keen. A bit sickly if you ask me!

The cats kept us company.

Barney was snoozing with his pal, the ribena berry.

Maia was being cute and playful on the cat castle!

I started falling asleep on the sofa so went to bed. Such a lightweight!

12th November 2014 - Party!

Another long day ahead. Joy of joys. I hate them.

Paul was working in Manchester today then out at a black tie do in the evening. So I had to fend for myself plus do all the #Whedonsday entertaining!

So we were a little cheeky...

There was beer and sausage casserole and the world was a good place! We watched some Buffy and Angel and Shield and all was fun. Then Chris headed home and I headed to bed.

Except I wasn't tired. So I put on some music and proceeded to have a Sad Lonely Bastard disco for one until I started to get sleepy!

Paul still didn't get in until an hour later though. Hmph.

24th October 2014 - Faking It!

Friday! Whoop! It's finally here! :) :) :)

Also T and I were in the office alone for the day! We were super productive, which is very surprising and means that we are the worst kind of rebels.

Well...that's not strictly true. We rebelled slightly. We had Fizz Friday. But as there is no photographic evidence of it, you'll just have to take my word for it!

I came home in desperate need of a chill out evening. I think we both needed it, so that's just what we did! It was great!

As we're not really drinking at the moment (she says after drinking half a bottle of fizz after work in the office!) Paul got some non alcoholic beer for us to enjoy!

It's actually not that bad! Obviously not as nice as normal beer but because it's not sugary in taste like fizzy pop is, it does feel like we're having something that's a bit of a treat...although Paul may disagree with me!

We watched some tv, relaxed and went to bed. Not the wackiest fun in the world but it suits us just fine. Just makes the blog a little dull, is all!

17th September 2014 - Foamy!

What should have been a beautiful lie in this morning was ruined by Paul having to go to work early for a do. Not impressed. Stupid work.

I got to work slightly earlier instead to get some stuff done before I had to give up my desk. Could have done with a lot longer than I had but that's my own fault for not getting up earlier!

I came home and did a small bit of sorting out before the evening's entertainment! Yes, it's #Whedonsday once more!

For dinner, Paul made Meatloaf in a spicy tomato sauce with green veg!

The sauce was a lot hotter than we usually have. Must have got an extra hot chilli this time, but it was good! The lemon torte we had for pudding helped cool the mouth!

Our first ep of Buffy this evening was one of our personal favourites - just for being a bit daft more than anything else!

Key lessons learned from it, I think. It talks about about The ID and that the mind wants what the mind wants!

More importantly...

Very important lessons. We did, in fact, have foamy beer and we loved every second of it! :)

Teehee!

After Chris left it was time for bed! We're such lightweights!

20th August 2014 - Naff.

Didn't have the best of sleeps. Again. I think I'm saying words very similar to that every day, aren't I?! Ah well.

Nothing particularly interesting happened this morning at all.

Then work. Which wasn't interesting either to be honest. In fact, it was pretty darn rubbish. I didn't feel as though I could catch up with anything. First off, T's computer broke, which was not good as I had to try to fix it. I couldn't. IT guy was sorting it remotely but it meant that T couldn't use her machine all morning. Not good.

Basically, the day was rubbish. No two ways about it. It was naff.

Paul met me after work and we went to the shops for a few dinner bits. Which is when he mentioned that he had a couple of pints at lunch time.

Then I wanted beer.

Taken from Tumblr
It was justified by the fact that we do normally have a couple of beers on a Wednesday, therefore it's ok!

Beer and blankie. Perfect.

I wasn't really in a great mood tonight so we watched some telly for a bit then went to bed. Not the most exciting of days but hopefully we can get up and gym tomorrow!

24th May 2014 - A Relaxing Day...of sorts...

Saturday morning. The unofficial day of rest! How wonderful Saturday mornings are!

So that's exactly what we did! Rest! Except I also took pictures of my wonky ankle, just to show you al! You're welcome!

See how the one on the right points in more than the other. Yep - wonk. It's not supposed to do that!

We also took the opportunity to furminate the kittens! It's Barney that needs the most work but he wasn't impressed with the process. Maia, on the other paw, LOVED IT!

Aw, my baby's going grey. :(

Here's all that fur tightly compacted into a ball. That's quite a big ball. Don't believe me? Here, see this:

That's the ball of fur next to a 20p piece! Whilst 20ps aren't huge, it's better than a 5p!

The yield from Barney wasn't great.

For comparative purposes. Barney, however, decided the ball of his fur was the best. toy. ever! He chased it around the house for ages, even playing fetch with it for a while until he lost it! I was scared he might try to eat it but no! Play!

I had a nice bath while Paul watched the Grand Prix qualifying. Had to primp myself good and proper.

After some sitting around, we had an appointment to attend to! The shoe shop! The Italian (non)torturer advised that I should get a better pair of shoes so I did! They're pretty! I didn't take a picture. Soz.

We then headed (in the torrential rain) to The Crowne Plaza on the docks in Liverpool to the spa! We had massages to have!

After some standing around, we were taken to a small conference room and asked to remove our clothing for our massage in front of a glass windowed door. Ok, so that's not quite what happened (we were in swim suits) but other than that it's the truth! We had massages in a conference room! They asked us to strip as we'd been in the jacuzzi first and they didn't like the wet costumes on the bed. Hmmm.

The massages were nice. They beat up Paul's back, gave us a small facial, tore my arms up (not literally but it flamin' hurt!) then asked us if we enjoyed it! There will be bruising. Yay.

Once we left there we decided we were a little peckish so headed for some food at a little place called Lucha Libra.

It was yummy! Want some food pic spam?! OK!

Chicken Quesadilla. Mmmm!

Pork burrito! MmmMmmMMMM!

It was really reasonably priced and we'll definitely go back, ordering more next time!

We then went on a bit of a small circuit of town! Paul has an Independent Liverpool card so we got discounts/freebies along the way!

Free Sambucca shot with every round. It's a little early...but sure!

We then went to a little place round the corner which sold beer in glass tankards! Big and little ones!

So cute!

Little glass!

Big glass!

After a few drinks we went home!

Train journey for the win!

We got some pudding which we ate when we got in, then we went to bed, both exhausted. Relaxing day? More like painful and exhausting day!

23rd March 2014 - RUN LIKE THE WIND!

An early start this morning for Paul and I. It's all his fault. He decided it would be fun to run in a half marathon. Me...not so much...so I didn't. Yet I went along to cheer him on anyway!

The Liverpool half marathon takes you round some of the sights of the city and then back down to the dock. It also started at 9am so we had to be there earlier than that. Which meant Paul getting up at 6:30am to eat. I waited half an hour then showered etc.

Paul left to go get warmed up and to his place in line. I wanted to see him start so headed to the start line. The gig was being started by Liverpool Football Club manager Brendn R0gers (don't want people searching for him to stumble on this blog!) who was supposed to run but didn't for some reason. His teeth were probably being whitened or something. But anyway, he cheered people on as they got on their merry way.

While I wasn't able to get a picture of Paul starting, I did take a picture of Brendan clapping and cheering him on. Which Paul did not appreciate!

Now, what to do? It's 9:15am. The shops don't open until 10:30am at the earliest. Paul wants to have finished at 11am at the latest. So I did what any normal person would and went for breakfast. Alone.

I sat in our usual cafe and had a bacon sandwich. It was PACKED. I was lucky to be able to get a Sad Lonely Bastard (SLB) table for 1! I sat and read a couple of chapters of The Hobbit, while clearly being mocked by the two hungover chaps behind me, then gave up and enjoyed my cuppa! I felt the need to leave straight away though as the cafe was just so busy!

I then called my Mum as I headed back towards the finish line as there was nothing else really to do!

My view, just before the finish. Doesn't it look like a lovely day? Yeah - the wind was horrible! Sunny but windy all in one go!

He did it, anyway! 1 hour 50 minutes and 16 seconds! A personal best by over 10 minutes! Next time (in May) he wants to get 1 hour 45 minutes. I will cheer him on then as well!

After I met up with him we went for a beer or two with his friends who also did the run. They deserved a pint I think!

We then headed home, via the beer shop, for an afternoon of relaxation!

This was my treat. Some Black Country craft beer! As I grew up near the black country, I felt it was necessary to try my old 'local' brewery!

Eventually the best time of day rolled round and we ordered some yumminess to really treat Paul!

Mmmm, American Pizza Slice.

Now, I realise that this place may be stereotyping somewhat, but they pride themselves on giant slices of pizza. So you group them together to make a whole pizza! Different flavours and everything!

Paul's hand - just to show the size of said pizza!

It was goooooooood!

The Marathon man (half marathon...but whatevs!) chows down! He polished off his half. I only managed half my half so yay! Leftovers for me!

A Caroline-sized bite out of the large pizza slice!

We watched a few films as we wiled away the time! We watched the last Harry Potter movie, which we could hardly see as it's so dark and the living room is so light! Then Thor, because...we could! Then The Losers! A good day's entertainment I think!

After a couple of celebratory bottles of Prosecco (any excuse!) I was getting sleepy so headed to bed! At some time ridiculous like 8:30pm! I'M NOT ASHAMED!
