26th December 2014 - Boxing Day (AKA Tedmas 2)

I had a lousy night's sleep. Tradition states this. I always seem to be ill at Michael and Annabel's house!

I got up in the night to cough and it was so bad I made myself sick. TMI? Maybe. I went downstairs as I didn't want to disturb the baby. I heard him a couple of times but he didn't cry - more just made noise! It's cute, as a guest. I'm sure that's not the case as the parent when you're getting a good sleep!

I then had to get up and find a glass to get some water for Paul as he was starting to feel a bit poorly. Whether it's the wine or my cold, who knows. I furnished him with water and got a little more sleep.

I told Annabel last night that Paul normally wakes up early and goes downstairs to watch tv. Well, it was me today. I was up early and chilling in the living room when Annabel came down with my well rested little pal!

So we gave him one of his new toys (this egg thing with chicks in it...kids love it apparently!) and let him play!

As with yesterday, the front facing camera was ever present, and this morning he was just as smiley at himself as he had been yesterday!

I LOVE THIS LITTLE FACE!

We were happily playing, and I tried to take a picture of how happily he was playing when he looked up at me like this...

I mean...just...AW!

Elvis also got a little bit of action as well!

Elvis has a mirror on his side, so that got lots of smiles, which is good!

Yeah, there are a million Ted pictures, but I can't resist sharing them!

The many selfie faces of Ted J Hartley!

Nummy Eggy toy!

Obligatory Ted playing video!

Bellatrix was also keeping us company this morning...loving the nip, as ever. She positively destroyed the neatly contained scratching post to get to the leftover nip! She's a nip fiend!

She's just so cute!

Paul has caught my lurgy, which is naturally the end of the world. He stayed in bed as long as possible and had some medicine with breakfast.  He had a lot of driving to do, so I had to go along with what he wanted.

We got on our way at around 11, with a quick stop at the shops to get a few bits and bobs before starting up the M6. There was a fair bit of traffic on the motorway, so we stopped so Paul could have a coffee to perk himself up a little.

We then carried on to my Aunt's house near Preston for the Hartley family party, made extra special because it's the first time that they got to meet Ted! Very special!

Any excuse for a Ted selfie, complete with Christmas cracker hat and reindeer jumper!

Everyone was understandably smitten with our new family member and he was all smiles for them, not at all scared, which is really nice!

Here is with some presents from his Great Uncle and Auntie. Lolz. They won't like me saying that! He seemed to like them very much and was talking to them, which is uber cute!

Scary Auntie Whiney doesn't get smiles when in pictures!

Just to prove there were other people at the family party, not just Ted, here's a view of the room!

The adorable Emile and Jacob as fun as ever!

We all got our Secret Santa presents...when I say all, me and my Aunt had an IOU as Santa forgot our gifts! Oh well, means Christmas lasts a bit longer!

So my gift can be more pictures of Ted!

Grandma Hartley and Ted having a few giggles!

...and more giggles. Grandma Hartley certainly likes playtime with Ted!

We did give other people a go. He wanted to play with my cousin Karen as well!

By play with Karen, it probably meant pull her hair! He's not too violent with it though, and is so very cute!

Mum soon got him back though, and posed him for a cuddle with my cousin Adam!

They didn't stay much longer as it's a two hour drive back for them. Ted was getting tired so would hopefully sleep in the car.

One last Ted selfie?

Complete with photobomb from Granddad Hartley in the background!

Going to miss his little face now! Christmas is definitely much better with little ones around!

We didn't stay much longer either as we needed to head over to Blackpool for the Kirkham family party!

There were cocktails and lots of play time with the adorable twins S and O, plus lots of girly talk with my little flowergirl S, who is turning into a little lady and is very beautiful!

I got turned into aliens, dogs, chickens etc far more times than I can count but it's all good. I also got to play with the giant Asali, who featured in last year's post which you can see below. Last year I took a photo of her giant puppy paw. 1 year later and it's a little bigger!

2013 on the left. 2014 on the right. She's deffo growing!

Paul wasn't feeling particularly amazing or social so we only stayed for a couple of hours. We had heard rumours of snow falling, especially in the Midlands and we didn't want to get caught in it if it spread up north.

There was a bit of sleet, but not too bad. Paul came in and made himself a hot toddy, getting changed into something a little more comfortable.

See those Avengers 'lounge pants'? Yep - they're from me! You're welcome, Paul!

Avengers, coincidentally, was on the tv! Despite having watched it at least a million times already, we watched it again!

Maia was very happy to see us. Mostly because it meant that she got fed!

Barney and I had a little bit of play time. It was then that I realised that he wasn't all 'butter won't melt' as he had been a naughty boy. Again.

He loves white wires and had set to on Paul's Mum's phone charger. He has done this before with her camera wire during our wedding. He's so naughty. I gave her my phone wire which is identical as an apology. He's so bad.

We watched the movie and then it was time for Match of the Day so I headed to bed. Hopefully to get more sleep than the last couple of nights!

20th December 2014 - Seriously...AGAIN?!

I woke up at about 5am with a hideous migraine.

I look lots of meds and lay down for a little longer. Paul got up and went to the cheese shop and chose some cheese for Christmas.

By the time he got back, I was feeling better so I got up too. I had remembered that I was crap and had forgotten to write & send pretty much any Christmas cards. Bad Caroline.

So I had to get them written and head out AGAIN. Into town. Yep - putting myself through the high street on the last Saturday before Christmas. Just after a migraine.

So I wrote the cards and noticed something wasn't quite right with one of them.

Someone needs to get fired for that. Do they not proof read?! Says someone who doesn't proof read...meh! I don't get paid to write this. I paid good money for that card!

So, Carlton Cards. I've even given you the bar code for the card to see if that helps you name and shame who made that mistake!

I got stuff done. Paul got stuff done. We were done!

We had a cheeky drink before heading to the car.

Doesn't look a lot but that's all done!

We got home and relaxed for a little while. It was very important to be lazy. I needed it!

We sat on the sofa and settled in for the Strictly final. Barney wasn't impressed by the lack of attention on him.

He took his star wand for a walk and dropped it by the front door! It's a subtle hint!

Paul made dinner while I was entertained by the dancing.

This is one of my favourite meals in the world and it was DE-LISH-US.

The dancing finished and the person I wanted to win won, so there was much to be happy about! Paul went to bed and I watched some random crap on tv for a little while. I then intended to head to bed...but fell asleep instead.

1st Jan 2014 - Because I can!

Happy New Year again!

Well, it's a new year. Why not pop another post in! I've still got this damn blogging bug!

We had a nice lie in this morning, because it's the first day in a new year and we should start as we mean to go on!

Paul decided that a good breakfast was necessary. Well, who am I to argue?!

And as it's the first day of a new year, why not have a little celebrate, as I feel better this morning than I did yesterday, we had some more of the fizz, but in a Bucks Fizz variety!

As last night we sort of recreated our first New Year's Eve together, we recreated our first New Years Day together!

Although slightly different, as I did the cooking all those years ago, but we did sit and eat whilst watching the first season of Heroes!

Yes, that has a Christmas 2007 sticker on it! It's THAT OLD!

Paul had to go to the football so I was left all by myself. So I settled into the sofa and decided to start a new TV series - The Good Wife.

I quite enjoyed it! So I stuck with it, occasionally getting up to see what the cats were up to etc!

Barney was busy being me! So cute!

Maia was being cute and chasing after my hairband. Very sweet.

I might have got through an ep or two...or seven!

Paul came back, quite late, and we had a very late chicken sandwich before going to bed.

So I thought I might do a few little highlight packages of last year. Because I just can't let got!

26/12/2013 - Family Fun Day!

Woke up this morning and felt as fresh as a daisy! Which was unexpected to be honest! With a long day ahead of us that was necessary!

We had breakfast and all took our turn in the shower, then all crammed into Paul's dad's car to head over to Blackpool! We didn't linger, just deposited Paul's parents and then we headed over to Preston for the Boxing Day traditional Hartley family gathering!

We were the second to arrive, being beaten there by my Mum and Dad! So we exchanged presents and while they gave me vouchers, we gave them their copy of our wedding album! I think they liked it! Mum especially! She can stop guilt tripping me about getting any official pictures now!

Once everyone arrived, the buffet opened and the clan descended on the dining table - my husband and my father being the first there. No surprise! :)

There were an array of Christmas jumpers this year, which was nice. I was wearing mine (which had moulted all over the car!) but Paul forgot his. Silly billy!

After food there was high demand (mostly from my lovely cousin Adam, dressed in his Santa onesie) for the start of the sharing of Secret Santa presents! Yay!

Of course, we gave the little 'uns some gifts first and they seemed to enjoy those!

Then it was the adults' turn! Naturally, with someone here in a Santa onesie, he had to dish out the presents to us all!

 Dad was up first!

Secret Santa also came for little Jacob too!

A drill! Another drill! He likes his drills does our Jacob!

Paul got beer. So he was happy!

Genuine smile there from my hubby!

My Secret Santa present? Well...I'm not really sure how to take it...

Either a hint that I should do more washing up or someone calling me a diva? Either way, it'll look cool next to my sink!

We sat around and chatted some more and my dad fell asleep. As he does!

Cousin Daniel enjoys the baby's present! Apparently it was really good!

How cute are these pics of Adam with little Jacob?! He's adorable and loves Adam to pieces! He thinks he's funny! Well, he is!

I couldn't resist getting in on the action!

Seriously, he is just too cute!

So Paul couldn't resist getting in on the action either!

Can't beat a good selfie!

Then it was time for pudding!

It's not a Hartley family party without jelly and blancmange! It's tradition!

There was also a new tradition!

Cheese! You know we love cheese and this selection was not to be scoffed at! Paired with some of the chilli jam my parents had made...perfection.

Gorgeous little Emily in her spotty onesie! She's at that stage where she's ready to walk but hasn't got her balance yet, but she's crawling around everywhere and pulling herself up! Next time we see her (whenever that is) she'll be walking! It's madness!

We left my Aunt's house and then drove back over to Blackpool to see the Kirkham clan. Yes - we have to do it all again!

Luckily there were kids there as well, so there was more play time!

And more presents to open!

Little O and S are just adorable boys! They're always a bit wary of you at first but then I think when they see that you want to play and give them attention, they love you!

So naturally, I had a play with them! :) We played with their pirate ship and remote controlled cars...I even went in their den under the dining table! If that's not acceptance from toddlers, I don't know what is!

The other star of the show was Paul's Aunt's dog - Asali! She's a Rhodesian Ridgeback and about 8 or 9 months old. Which you will not believe when you see the size of her!

I just love her worried little face!

Just to show the size of her paws...

Yes, she was having a nibble. No it didn't hurt. She was just playing. Such a cutie!

The boys had been taken to get ready for bed. When they came back they were in their superhero onesies! No longer O and S but Spiderman and The Hulk!

Not particularly flattering of me! I was trying to get them to do big cheesy grins! Instead they are cute and lovely and I look like the Cheshire Cat!

They are adorable. They also decided that they were going to take down The Evil Caroline and both came and piled on me! With the dog! Well, if Evil Caroline is going to be defeated, it may as well be by Spiderman and The Hulk, right?! Oh, and The Great Asali!

Almost like butter wouldn't melt, eh? She's so energetic, as you'd imagine for a 9 month old puppy but she is a lovely girl as well. I can't believe she could grow any more!

A blurred view of her ridgeback!

I just want to give her a big hug and a kiss and tell her everything is ok!

Yep - that's a giant paw!

We said our goodbyes so we weren't too late home and headed back on the motorway. There was a rather odd noise coming from the car, so when we were about half way home, we stopped at the service station to see what had got caught on the bottom of the car.

Nothing had got caught, as such, but part of the undercarriage of the car had fallen off and was dragging along the road!

Yikes!

It wouldn't come loose, so we carried on home hoping we'd get back ok. We did, thank goodness! Really didn't want that flying off and hitting someone else's car.

I got in and called my Mum to let her know we were safe. I then watched some of the Big Fat Quiz of the Year which was ok. It was time to go to bed though. It had been a long day. Paul and his Mum were watching Match of the Day, so I finished my wine and headed for sleepyland.

Boofle got cuddles. Of course. I love Boofle.
