15th August 2014 - Thank Flip It's Friday!

So glad this day has come! I haven't been looking forward to a Friday this much in ages! Unfortunately, we still were not in the right frame of awakeness to make it to the gym. This needs to get sorted out. I miss the gym! I did go to sleep with a headache last night and it was still there when I woke up this morning, so gym probably wouldn't have happened even if we did sleep well!

I got to work horrendously late (but still pre-9am) and then remembered I was on my own this morning. That's not a bad thing, as I can work to my own pace then, rather than have things thrown on me. Except that our computers did not wish to stay connected and therefore made working a bit of a pain. I had a 30 minute piece of dictation to do, which should have taken me some of the morning. It took a lot longer than that. Which would have been fine except there was a 10 minute piece to do as well and I wanted to get it all done so that T didn't come back to work with anything left.

I got it all done (with other jobs as well) at 1659 on the nose. PHEW!

Reason to celebrate or what?! It had been a stressful day as stuff was happening on my new work-load which I had no control over and didn't know what to do about it. Not good when you're on your own. A got in at 3:30pm, with his own dramas which didn't help matters at all.

We didn't celebrate either! We didn't have a single drink! Go us! We watched more Stargate, ate burgers and relaxed! I wanted an earlier night as I was pretty exhausted from the whole day so went to bed and left Paul up for a while longer.

I discovered I had a visitor in my room of sorts...

A man in a trenchcoat, top hat and monocle. Little bit scary if you ask me...

14th August 2014 - It's Done!

Not a bad sleep but too sleepy to be getting up to go to the gym. Next week = new start for us. Lots more gym and better living. I think we're having a weekend off the booze as well! Let's see if that keeps up!

It absolutely threw it down with rain this morning, literally just  for the duration of my walk to work. It came down heavy as I stepped out of the house and stopped as soon as I got to the front door. Grr. My legs were soaked!

It got so bad that I had to take off my shoes so they could dry out! Luckily for me I had my fluffy slippers here so was able to keep my feet toasty warm!

It's a good look, with my suit trousers, no?!

It was a mad busy day but got a lot done and was pleased with it! Go me!

The one kicker is that I was sending a LOT of emails out that were a bit on the snarky side, which meant that I was getting the retaliation. I'm just the messenger! Be nice to me. So whenever I saw the new email icon, I approached it in fear!

I quickly opened it to get rid of the notification then closed it again like a wimp! I'll print it later! I'm on my lunch! I don't want meanies ruining my break!

No rest for the wicked today though, as when I got home I was determined to get the ironing DONE. I mean all of it. All that holiday stuff that has been there since we got back. I want it GONE! So I got on with it, stopping for a quick 45 minute break for my tea (chorizo burgers...mmm!) and an episode of Stargate.

I did it. By 9pm it was finished!

Maia was so happy it was empty, she put her favourite piece of lace in there in playful celebration!

Yes, Frodo. I feel my ironing challenge IS as big of a deal as you casting the One Ring into the fires of Mount Doom! Shame I didn't have an eagle to carry me to bed as well!

I played with Maia for a while once I finished as she was feeling feisty. Then Barney came and made it all about him so Maia wouldn't play any more. These two cannot play together. That it impossible. I feel sorry for Maia as I don't get to play with her very often as Barney always takes over. He's such a spoiler.

We then went to bed and hoped for a good night's sleep. As we do every night!

13th August 2014 - Good Day Gone Bad!

Paul had a bad night's sleep. Mine wasn't great but not as bad as his. At least we didn't have to be up early this morning but still - not good.

Had a very productive morning in work! The time flew by! I like it when that happens! I don't like to wish time away, especially when the year has gone so fast already, but I was smug with my morning's work!

Then it all went wrong. So wrong.

We had a visitor to the office. I don't even really need to say who the visitor was. An image will do that for me.

Yep - my old line manager and bestest friend in the whole entire world came to the office to drop off some files he had taken. We've only been waiting 3 months for them. This must be some sort of record!

He only stayed for 5 minutes talking to me and I think the hostility came off me in waves so he retreated. Thank goodness. I was not impressed. Still trying to convince the world he's better than everyone else. Nope. Soz, pal, you aren't.

This put me in a funk for the rest of the day. He really gets my goat, even after nearly 2 years of him not working here. Wow, it's actually been that long. Nearly. Madness.

I hurried home after work, not wanting to be in the office any more. We were going to go to the cinema again tonight but figured that it wasn't worth it just in case Paul fell asleep! So I decided to make the card for Lucy and get the glue gun out!

It didn't take long and I hope she likes it in real life as well as in photographs!

I'm quite pleased with it! It's not the variation that I would have chosen myself but that's why I gave her options! I still think it looks ok. I think I might have to experiment with different coloured card behind the hessian in future, as I think without buttons it's a bit bland.

Once I finished, we relaxed and watched some more Stargate over dinner. I have a feeling this is going to be a common theme for the rest of the year!

We decided to try yet another early night in the hope Paul gets a better night's sleep.

12th August 2014 - Crafty Cags!

Paul still feels ropey so we had another lazy morning. Due to him not feeling well enough to go to the office, he worked from home after giving me a cheeky lift into work! I like getting a lift but I don't like poorly sick Paul. Everyone hope he feels better soon!

Another busy day in work and I wasn't really feeling it but it's one of those situations where you just have to man up and get on with it! So I did. I'm getting very good at manning up. Still haven't got the foggiest as to what I'm actually doing, but I'm brave enough to give it a go! Well done me, I say!

I also got a cheeky delivery in work today!

I ordered these from Little Red's Home made Gifts just after Lucy had little baby B (I've said the name before but will try not to again for privacy's sake) and they arrived today! Looking forward to giving them to her when we get to see them all!

Speaking of Lucy, I started making the card she custom ordered from me last week! All the extra pieces I needed had arrived so no time like the present to get it done! Plus it means I don't have to iron tonight! WHOOP!

Maia helped with the scrabble tiles. She really quite liked the 'A' towards the top!

I basically just needed to arrange the letters into a format that fit and was pretty. There were a couple of options...

I then took loads of pictures of the different decorative options and forwarded them all onto Lucy to see which she liked.

I couldn't resist starting the post with this! :)

I also found a website that would watermark the images, should I decide to put the finished article on line. I started a crafty blog but it's not ready for public consumption yet! I am being urged to market them but I REALLY don't think I'm good enough for that! I just like doing it for me! Saves me finding the perfect card for people when I can make them myself! :)

After I had done as much as I could without Lucy's go ahead we had dinner and watched some more Stargate. Whilst eating, Lucy told me what she liked best (and sent me the cutest picture of A with little B!) and invited us to go and meet him on Sunday! Yay! I was hoping we'd get to go soon, especially as the gifts arrived today! :)

We decided on a fairly early night as we were both so tired, hoping that we'd get a better sleep.

11th August 2014 - Can't think of a title for today. Sorry!

We were awake early this morning. Paul had stolen the duvet from me and I was cold so had to scoot really far down the bed to get myself a share! He's too strong to steal it all back!

He woke up not feeling very well so we didn't gym. Didn't want him being sick everywhere.

I came to work and was immediately faced with a busy day. Busy is good. I can deal with busy. It wasn't bad busy either, unlike last week. It is only Monday though, so my breath isn't going to get held here!

All in all, the day went pretty fast, which makes a nice change!

When I got home, instead of being lazy, I got my ironing board out again and ploughed through some of the pile. There is still holiday stuff in there and I'd like it gone! Sadly, today wasn't the day that was going to happen and I barely did half of it. Joys of being distracted. Mostly by cats that wanted to play. We HAVE to play with our cats - vets orders - so I needed to ignore the ironing every so often, ok?!

We had dinner which wasn't as planned but was pretty yummy. Chicken, cheese and bacon on a brioche roll! Delish! Sadly only small but with Paul not feeling great, it was probably the right idea.

We watched the latest ep of True Blood (can't believe there are only 2 eps left EVER!) then decided to have an early night. Paul needs to rest to recover and I just need to rest with the duvet all night and less stomping from a certain little Beep!

Sleep is for the weak, right?

10th August 2014 - It's a Mystery!

A day with no plans whatsoever. Nothing. Zip. Nada! It's a great feeling! I love it!

We lazed. I do enjoy lazing. Except when I have to go and change a load of washing, but at least I can laze some more once that's been done! Playing with Barnacles can also be done whilst lazing, as it's him that needs to do all the work!

Alas, the lazing needed to end. Paul got up and went to the shops. I got up to do a little more tidying up as there was quite a lot of 'stuff' which was everywhere and needed to be put into place. Quite where that place is, I'm not sure.

While I was moving stiff around I found something which I found interesting to say the least!

A broken USB cable. Paul and I literally have no idea what this has come from. We can see it's been bitten to buggery by a certain little Beep whom shall remain nameless, but I really don't know what's on the other end! I don't think it's one of my phone wires as they seem accounted for. I can't think what else is Samsung in our house! Nor have we found the other end, despite my looking for it! So long as it wasn't eaten by a little Beep then I won't be too concerned. Just intrigued.

Once Paul got back from shopping and we had sorted a few other bits and bobs out, we headed downstairs, hoping to watch the Community Shield match between Manchester City and Arsenal. It was on a sports channel we don't have access to. It's a bit daft putting on a football game named "Community Shield" yet it's on a channel that you have to pay for therefore is not immediately accessible to the Community. Hmph.

There was no other alternative. It was going to have to be Stargate Sunday instead! We started just after 3pm and by bed time were 1 episode into the 2nd season!

Of course, we had dinner in the middle!

Giant Roast Pork dinner, cooked from scratch by Paul. I do love roast pork quite a lot. I think because you can legit have apple sauce AND mustard AND stuffing with it! :)

After we got through Stargate it was time to go to bed. As I was about to close the curtains, there were plain clothes policemen hammering at the door at number 4 opposite and speaking with the neighbour at number 6. Yeah, that's not at all scary. Wonder what all that is about.

They left and a car alarm went off. The Powers That Be clearly don't want me to have a good night's sleep!

9th August 2014 - Visitors at the end of Summer!

Saturday morning! I came to bed quite early last night as I was so tired and I was awake at a reasonable time this morning.

We lay in bed for a while drinking tea and listening to the radio, but we did have to get up as there were things to do! The house needed some straightening out  so we got on with it!

Mum and Dad came to visit today! Yay! They haven't actually been to our house since just before Christmas, which is a long time ago! I don't think they wanted to see us, probably more like the cats!

When they got to ours we went out for lunch to a local pub and ate some traditional pub grub! I only took a picture of mine! I had a 'Ploughmans Platter' and it was MASSIVE!

It was lovely but I officially only ate half of it! The slabs of pie and cheese were pretty epic! I gave Paul some of it but still brought a whole slab of cheese and a slice of ham home!

We came home and chatted for a while, Mum wanted to play with Barney who was not obliging! Paul and Dad were watching cricket!

It was a good day but I was feeling a little sleepy from such a large lunch!

After they left, we decided to go back out again and enjoy what's probably going to be the last of the summer sun. We get the remains of a hurricane here tomorrow so we went back to the pub we went to for lunch and sat in the beer  garden for a little while!

Those aren't our dirty glasses there. We just took a dirty table!

Much better!

We sat out for a little while, looking for something to do for our anniversary, but when the sun went behind the building, the wind was a little nippy, so we went inside.

We decided to go on a little trip to Somerset for our wedding anniversary so booked a cute little b&b near the beach! Exciting! I haven't been to Somerset for a very long time and we've been meaning to go for many years but have never made it!

We chilled for a while in the pub then headed home for dinner. I was getting quite cold outside so we couldn't get back quick enough in my opinion!

We had pasta bake for dinner and watched more Stargate! Well, we have 10 seasons to get through and we're nowhere near finishing season 1 yet!

Paul went to bed earlier than me (and remembered he needed to put sheets on the bed as we'd stripped it earlier...lol!) but I wasn't far behind. Fingers crossed the storm isn't too loud overnight so we get a decent sleep!
